Thanks. That seems to be most common. Why is it so expensive!

i dunno how much it costs outside for that TI-84 plus pocket SE which my gal is using...
Bot from sch, ( class order), it costs $160...

Oh, that's a good price! It's now about $220 in Popular. When did she get it? Any idea where they got it from?
You can buy brand new TI 84 Plus Pocket SE at $169, from Nanyang JC bookshop. Contact 98893366
If you buy from them, they provide 2 years warranty. They also repair service at a flat rate of $30, and 6 months warranty after repair. Turnaround time is about 3 days. They did a good job of repairing my TI 84 Plus when the screen was frozen with blinking cursor.

https://s7.postimg.org/gjoug5ivv/SEAB_Approved_Examination_Scientific_Calculators_and_Graphing_Ca.jpg\">

Adding MOE SEAB Approved Calculator Rules for Students:
https://ingelsoong.com/moe-seab-approved-calculator-list

You could be using your calculator for finding mole ratios, solving roots of quadratic equations or evaluating acceleration problems.

Yet:

Do you know the rules pertaining to their use in Ministry of Education examinations?

https://s7.postimg.org/m7v57358r/MOE_SEAB_Calculator_Rules.jpg\">

Now:

1) Your calculator needs to be silent (100% silent mode)

2) You are not allowed to share your calculators with your friends during any examinations

3) You must remove any instruction sheets, formula lists or conversion help that come along with your calculators

4) Your calculator is not capable of performing differentiation, integration and other algebraic manipulations.

5) You cannot use a spoilt calculator as an excuse for low grades.

You are probably not aware that:

The use of calculators was introduced by the Ministry of Education for Primary 5 students in 2008 and Primary 6 students in 2009.

The reason given was to allow \"pupils to better focus on discovering patterns and making generalisations without worrying about computational accuracy\".

In 2008, secondary school students are allowed to use scientific calculators in both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Previously, only Paper 2 allowed the use of scientific calculators.

Graphing calculators were also introduced in Junior College (JC)/ Centralised Institutes (CI) for H1, H2 and H3 Mathematics \" to plot graphs, perform statistical functions and solve a series of equations\" at GCE A-Level.

It might help if you posted in a more relevant thread?

There are tuition threads you can add to. You are unlikely to get any response on a calculator thread!

I think the TI-Nspire CX or the TI-84 Plus CE https://cfone.net/graphing-calculators-on-amazon.html is a good choice. Maybe you could take them into your consideration list.

I hope the rule is updated to accomodate the usage of smartphones (I know I know, the smartphone is too smart and too hard to monitor or control during exams by the teachers).
Reason: buying a new graphing calculator costs $179 from the school (my sec3 daughter just informed me yesterday).
While buying an app that emulates the same graphing calculator (same software and functionalities as the calculator but runs on smartphone) only costs $5.
I assume almost all students already have smartphones, or else, a $179 can also buy a new decent smartphone.

Can buy second-hand to save costs. Ask those who have completed A levels or try Carousell.
