2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

Dear all, with the conversion of Canossa Convent to mixed cohort, which would have a higher chance under phase 2c for singaporean citizen, living in Kallang area?

- geylang methodist primary school
- canossa convent (which will be converted to mixed school)
- stamford primary

so far my encourntered with gmps has not been pleasant and the feedback from parents have been mixed so now thinking of second option.

Canossa Convent and Stamford have always been \"bao jiak\" for SC (any distance) in Phase 2C. Doubt that will change in the near future.

Canossa Convent conversion would probably have no significant impact on registration. If anything, it at least guarantees the school's survival in the short term (by admitting some boys to make up for the shortfall in girls).

I think 'better' is a subjective term. What's best for me may not necessarily be the same for you. You should examine your priorities (e.g. academic excellence, variety of CCAs / programmes, religious affinity, secondary school affiliation, location / logistically arrangement, etc) as well as your kid's interest, and weigh it against the probability of you entering the school. The school that you can qualify / enter while catering to most of your priorities is the better school.

Given that the registration is a couple of months away, you spend some time studying / observing the schools - physically being around the neighborhood and not just interacting with parents / students virtually.

There has been no big press release about Canossa Convent changing to co-ed school. As a member of they public, I wouldn’t even have known this news until it was pointed out by one kind forummer here.


So I would guess that in the first year, there would be very very few boys applying to the school. Your boy would be the “thorn” among all the roses. For good or for bad. That’s one thing to consider.

I don’t know much about the other 2 schools. But like floppy pointed out, do an on-site recce to observe the students’ behavior is always best way to see for yourself. Mother do the recce is less likely to raise concerns from the existing parents than father do lah. Sometimes parents don’t take kindly to “weird uncles” hanging around their kids’ school :evil:

studies and discipline is the parents' responsibility. honestly i can't think of any school which will look into the areas you mentioned. of course there will be a discipline master but on the whole, parents have to take charge.
