(Unless things have changed since my time) studying Medicine requires student to dissect a cadaver during anatomy class.

Not everybody can bear doing this. That’s why not all of the triple science cohort from my JC went on to study medicine, even if their score qualified them to.

I understand that NUS teaches using prosecrion & dissection of real cadavers, whereas NTU uses synthetic cadavers (or both?).

Yes, YLL teaches using prosection and dissection of real cadavers while LKC uses plasticized bodies.

My personal belief is studying medicine must be driven by one’s passion not because it’s a prestigious job.

Being a doctor is a very noble job. But looking at how they operate when my dad was hospitalized for months. It’s very long hours and from a work life balance perspective, I don’t think it’s good actually. I supposed they need to be very strong emotionally as well otherwise how can they empathize with their patients? Imagine having a doctor who is just doing his job… To face sickness, life and death constantly I suppose is no joke.

My dd who is in JC1 and doing BCME told us that she wants to do pharmaceutical science. We thought it’s good that she knows what she wants to aim for right from the start.

Oic! Do both courses have the same entry requirements/COP? And where do the NTU grads do their housemanship? At NUH also?

COP for shortlisting (interview) for both medical schools are usually at 87.5 and above.

Congrats. NUS just give only a few days for them to submit the referee report. Did he also applied for NTU medicine?

Think your DS should be receiving the NTU shortlisting soon since he already shortlisted for NUS which means he got good RP.

Not sure if its a sure thing to get shortlisted for NTU if one is shortlisted for NUS...will see.
Did DS submit his application to NTU early? 🙏
