How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?

No reason for me to be lazy yet lei ( people say I m still young , must work . Till I 50, I hope n tell myself I need to slow down . My engine cannot always in high gear , sometimes go fast , sometimes go slow . whatever I can earn , just earn .Whatever can save , just save . Whatever I need to spend to make my life joyful I will spend too ( I dun think I want to wait until retirement age to play - I scared got money , no energy n no time & not doing justice to myself lor) But play within means too 。

I do feel guilty for going on holidays trips when I am not working. However, I am not sure if I will still be fit to travel when I am older. For children enrichment, I see it as a kind of investments.

There are many “inappropriate” things we can’t change despite we know is a waste of $$.


I just make sure my pocket has enough for my retirement and that is it.

If travelling is something you want to do, go do it and don’t wait till old. When old, nobody knows if your health and body permit you to travel.

Yes, medical expenses is my greatest fear.
If one is old and healthy, he will still be able to work eg as s cleaner or odd job to make ends meet.

Quality of life is very important to me.
The basic human functions, ability to talk, walk, feed myself, bathe...all these are crucial.
Mum went for 2 knee replacement operations...the bills were mostly paid by insurance. She had a very patient and experienced doctor who did the op...touchwood! if I have to go for knee replacement, I don't want to go to govt hospitals because I've heard so many stories about people who can't walk for a long time after the op.
when I accompany mum for medical check up, we met patients who had operations done at tan tock seng or SGH but unsuccessful...they took a long time to get over the fear before seeing this doctor.
