My bet is properties in Jurong East won’t drop in price even if HSR is scrapped.
Demand would certainly cool down in short term...whether price drop or not depends on whether sellers can hold on longer than anticipated -

Where is the proposed HSR station in Spore? Near Jurong East?
Jurong country club will vacate its site so it's beside jurong town hall. But I guess the whole stretch, eg, those factories behind genting hotel, science centre...all the way to boon lay way will be part of the redevelopment if HSR is to proceed as planned -

From Jurong Town Hall to Boon Lay Way? That is a huge piece of land mass.starlight1968sg:

I was at Twin Vue some weeks ago and the agent was sharing HSR and potential MRT Station in the vicinity etc. -

This gets me thinking.... If HDB prices are stagnant because Govt are building more HDB and SERS are limited, wouldn’t it make more sense for our children to just skip HDB and buy private property as their first home (with assumption that they will marry in their late 20s or early 30s so they would have accumulated enough money for down payment)? Otherwise, private property will be out of their reach.ngl2010:

I see so many hdb flats in my vicinity.
The prices of condo are still going up. -
There’s still JLD Gateway and JID Silicon Valley, served by JRL. Don’t think prices will drop too drastically.
Just pity Genting Hotel and sayang the lands earmarked for the track and station. Maybe they can float a DHL balloon over the parcels while waiting patiently for GE15. -

I know property prices may be beyond the reach of our children but I don’t wish to pave a smooth path so that they just wait to get the property -

The point is to get the travellers to spend money mah so that whole area has to be vibrant.

Makes better sense for the next CBD to be sited in Woodlands. Paya Lebar is too near the CBD.IMO, prices there would drop after the announcement that the HSR project would be scrapped. Why? Because the prices there had been pushed up with the anticipation of the benefits HSR would bring upon completion.
Although marketing agents would now focus on the Jurong Lake District, but with the cancellation of HSR, does it still make sense to develop Jurong Lake into the next CBD?
Maybe right now, the govt might switch its attention and resources to the up and coming Paya Lebar CBD !! -
Wonder who initiated this hsr project? Sg or Mal?

Seems like we more hard up for the project. Can’t see the benefits...glad that it’s going to be scrapped. Think Paya Lebar has more potential...
