I just spoke to my son’s HMT teacher during ptm. He said in this school readings notes alone is not enough, must read text too.

      Both are important.
Son is in band. Twice a week. Plus he takes higher art and Jap.
But he enjoys Thinking and Research Prog a lot.
A total of 14-15 subjects but examinable only half.
If no extra subjects, only 6.
So far not much homework for year 1 but lots of projects.

Hi KTP. There is always a chance. If she is holding a leadership role it would be an added advantage. Just go ahead and submit her result slips and certificates. By the way, she can apply for more than 1 domain.

Any parent can advise if it is tough to get in through UG and any idea how many got CO for UG last year.

Shortlisted students will have to attend an interview, will it be in group or individual?

        Thanks!

Does anyone know if DSA via Maths, Science or languages, does the child need to be committed to any CCA or activities/competitions? How about DSA via UG? Must join the UG?

If DSA through UG the child must join a UG in the school. They will call and ask what UG is your child applying for if you have not indicated in your application.

                  ksks:

Does anyone have children in DHS Chinese Orchestra? Can share the no. of times of training per week in Year 1 and then subsequent years?

A mummy told me before (her DD now graduated) that Kids in CO need to sign up for compulsory external training with a DHS's approved music school. You may like to call the school to find out more.

It's Shangyin Music School (844 Sims Ave, Singapore 400844), and the DHSCO music instructors are all instructors from there if I'm not wrong.

Besides the music school training, there's sectional practices and orchestral practices as well. Usually once you're involved in the JH orchestra, the main practice timings are Monday (sectionals) and Fridays (orchestral). Nearer to the annual concert trainings will be more hectic, especially if you're involved in more concert pieces.

                      Must join UG for sure.
Not sure if 4 years or 6 years though. senior high got NO UG right?

Only have to commit for 4 years. In Y5 and Y6 there are also students in UG.

This is very informative. DSA thru UG only requires one to ‘serve the bond’ for 4 years. That’s a fairly good deal compared to other academic and sports domains. Hmmm…
