Hi I'm also considering these schools as you.Just my analysis & hope that would help.I would also like to know about Radin Mas, CHIJ(Kellock) and Zhangde. I am pondering between these three schools for my daughters P1 registration. I stay within 1Km of all the three schools. Can someone help me with the following information for the three schools
- Character Development / General Student Behavior
Initially CHIJ(Kellock) was my first choice as it has all morning session and it will inculcate christian values. But my second one is a boy, so if I get my daughter in Radin Mas then I can skip the whole P1 registration kiasuness for my son.
Is it single session?
CCA activities / encouragement
Staff care and concer for the students
Ease of getting a place
Academic training and performance
Any advice ??
Character Development
Radin Mas, No Character Development
Zhang De, Has Character Development
Both school are double session where P1, P2 in the afternoon.
Since you are staying within 1Km range, Phase 2C you are able to get in. Both schools having ballot at 1-2km (Range)
In terms of performance, Radin Mas tend to perform better. ZhangDe perhaps a few years later would be catching up. - Character Development / General Student Behavior

Hi, my boy is going to P1 next yr and I'm still trying to decide which sch to go to.
I stayed @ Bt. Panjang so the <1km better sch wld be Greenridge but was told might need balloting for phrase 2C.
I was from Zhangde Pri Sch (which is getting quite popular now) and surely get a place if I were to put my boy there. But I would have to move hse
Any advice would be appreciated

Based on past stats, Greenridge has no balloting for Phase 2C for the past 2 years, probably cos the 'crowd' was trying their luck at Bukit Panjang Pri and Beacon. One of the likely reasons that Greenridge may ballot this year may stem from the school's reduction in intake to slowly convert to single session (just my guess).

Moving house is no big issue, although Zhangde may seems an easy way out. You may want to compare your second choice school in Bt Panjang (Zhenghua is the next popular one after Greenridge) and see if you can accept your second choice school...if yes..then you need not move house.
Most parents in your shoes will register at Phase 2A2 at say Zhangde, then monitor the TUR at Greenridge in Phase 2C then at Day 3 of Phase 2C, assess their chances before deciding whether to withdraw from Zhangde (last day, station one parent in each school as withdrawal of application usually requires the presence of parents to do so) and try their luck at Greenridge.
At that crucial point, you will then truly feel whether you are willing to move for a place in Zhangde, or don't wanna move, but try your luck at Greenridge
Good luck! -
Thx so much for the advice. Actually Zhenghua is alot more convenient then Greenridge. But I Greenridge is a better sch as compared... sigh... it's so hard to choose...

Academically, Greenridge has a better record.
But if your child is into http://www.zhenghuapri.moe.edu.sg/progAesthetics.html, Zhenghua would be a better choice. -
How is the technique to do last minute withdrawal & enrollment in Phase 2C? I may have a case where enroll Phase 1 in Radin Mas but would like to try CHIJ (Kellock) in Phase 2C.
Required to standby 2 parents where one at which school? Stressful a not?
Standby at the last 30 minutes of registration time? Very afraid in the end no places for both school then ended up in Phase 2C Supplementary.
Those who have such kind of experiences do share if you have. -

First u register under phase 1 in Radin Mas which is guaranteed a place. And then on last day of phase 2C, u need to standby 1 parent at each school. The one at CHIJ must check with the admin staff what are ur chances in CHIJ based on ur distance. That is, how many places they have vs how many applicants under same distance category as u. Once u judge that ur chances are good, maybe 15 mins before closing time, the parent at Radin Mas must withdraw before the one at CHIJ submit. Note sometimes the computer system may be a bit slow. So the 15 mins is subjective. How is the technique to do last minute withdrawal & enrollment in Phase 2C? Stress level, definitely high, LOL. U never know if there are any last minute parents rushing in to apply at CHIJ after u had done ur calculations. Anyway, good luck! -

Hi All,
As I had performed PV for both 2 schools, I would have chance to enroll in Phase 2B. Does anyone have any extra infromation pertaining to these 2 schools?
In terms of transportation, Radin Mas seem better as there are buses serve from Bus Interchange & can just alight right outside.
River Valley seem rather remote as it is quite a distance for the school gate to walk all the way out to the main road to take the SBS buses.
