Mummytang,
Where do you stay? When we hv an idea, either MP or myself can help for specific info? -
MyPillow:
I saw on the websites that you have to be worshipping at the church for at least 6 months before you can apply for membership. My question is how long do they know you have been worshipping there? Do I have to register my attendance each time? Sorry for stupid questions....
I m attending Methodist church, there are two baptism/membership transfer classes, before Easter (in Feb/march) and before Christmas (Oct/Nov) You have time to look for a Methodist churchMummytang:
Hi, is it too late to look for a church to apply for membership and ready for 2019 registration? I am a Christian baptised when I was young but I would like to join a Methodist church. Thanks in advance for advice!
n join the membership class this year, after which choose to serve in some areas and by the time P1 reg starts next year for 2B in Jul - you should be able to catch the train
Welcome to the Methodist Family. -

1. Aldergate Methodist @ Fairfield compound
2. Living Waters @ ACSI compound
3. Faith Methodist @ Commonwealth
4. Holland Village Methodist
Central (no sure where u're planning to move) :-
1. Barker Road Methodist (next to ACSP)
2. Cairnhill Methodist @ ACSJ compound
3. Kampong Kapor Methodist
4. Hakka Methodist
5. Fairfield Methodist (at Tanjong Pagar)
The list is exhaustive & ive no idea where exactly central your move will be, so just share some list. We used to stay within Orchard vicinity, but never go to Barker or Cairnhill, by choice. Just some simple folks looking for a niche with old school friends to spend Sundays with. Hee, Hee.... -
Thanks Esteema very helpful! I have no idea where we will move to as well!
And thanks Mypillow too! -

No particular inclination to go elsewhere since family comfortable with existing argmts. It’s not just service we attend but it’s also the close frdships we had built over the years. Did visit the these two churches ocassionally on days we were not able to travel far during kids exams, as visitors.

No no, no attendance taking for service ... but u really need to decide fast , so that u still have time for yr end baptism (christmas time, class start Oct/nov) , ther will be interview by church leaders (to see see check check how long u been with the church, what are the areas u can or may service in before they give u the letter for P1registration ) .i think this is to prevent some people might make use of church membership to register for P1 , eg attend just less than 6mths, successfully registered n just leave the religion .. tat will be \"undesirable / unfair attitudes fr a mature adult\"Thanks Esteema very helpful! I have no idea where we will move to as well!

So far, not sure how other denominations issue membership affiliation for P1 registration. Even within Methodist, there are administrators going for simple processes, whilst some wld thoroughly check u out, esp those bigger congregation ones.
Naturally, coz smaller ones easy for pastor to rmbr faces & names. Bigger ones may filter their cell groups. Usually, a 1st time visitor will be invited to a guest corner to register presence. For some, to ensure public do not take adv of this privilege, the 1 year membership class suffice to engage a new member, coz after that, there’s still the rqmt for serving in yr area of choice & paperwork of official transfer fr yr previous church & baptism/confirmation.
Many eons back, there is no one full year membership class, not until discovery of abuse - parents disappeared fr church after getting P1 regn letter.
IMO, it’s really in our conscience and God knows each of our heart’s intention. One obj of the Methodist church is to imbibe in members accountability to the church they’re attending. When the church put in sensible classes to engage and familiarize new members into Methodist culture, it’s alr ensure responsibility to check & minimize abuse of system, without putting up too arduous a blockage.
I’m sure every parent wants their child to have a good education & a sch with good core values to teach. Similarly, Methodist sch wants to open opportunities for members kids to enjoy their childhood learning of values their parents wld uphold. -
Hi Esteema, Mypillow, thanks and totally agree with you.
My question on the attendance taking is more I am afraid I can’t prove the length of worship as I am usually more "low-key".
I took along time to decide on this as ideally I would like my kids to go to Sunday school and preferably do this as a family, since I grew up in my teenage years very active in church and enjoyed very much. Anyway, its a bit hard to convince my hubby and its a bit "lonely" to do it alone. That’s why a lot of determination needed. And definitely don’t want to join and disappear after. Thanks for both your inputs. Very helpful!
