      Vevey:
There are more bto and condo coming up <1km so best not to risk your chance in 2B with 1-2km if u can.

On a \"bad\" year (like Dragon and upcoming Horse, Goat), you won't stand a chance (ballot < 1km).
As snake year has one of the lowest birth rate, you would probably stand a very good chance of at least getting to ballot.

Thank you for the reply 🙂 Just saw that NC already conducted balloting for dragon year babies staying within 1km.. meaning if i fall under dragon year... i wouldnt even stand a chance to ballot if i'm staying within 1km - 2km.... sigh ... so tough

      [/quote]Totally agree.

Projects that were completed / completing include EC / condos like The Vales, Treasure Chest and Bellewaters, and many BTOs like Anchorvale whatever. Seriously, they will just pump up the demand for Nan Chiau such that \"good\" years will be far and few between.

Therefore I'm also caught in a position of should i move or not, we met quite a handful parents who stayed 1-2km too. Any parents applying for NC next year too to share your input?

If you want a chance to at least ballot, you will have to move. Otherwise, you can test your luck and hope next year demand isn’t that high. But if 2B demand exceed number of places < 1km, you are out and have blew your 2B chance away (unless it’s under GRL where you have other options).

Even in the best case scenario, it will be ballot < 2km. Under 2km, the school’s catchment includes EC / condos like Lush Acres, Riverbank and Rivertrees, as well as the newer BTOs in Fernvale (nearly the whole Sengkang West SMC). Don’t expect low number of applicants if < 2km comes into play.

            zac's mum:
            sunshineme:

Hi, Im staying in clementi having a few schs for p1 selection for my girl. Having few choices including my old sch. Appreciate if someone can enlighten me on the choices, n the chances of getting in. My Girl prefer a girl sch though.

            Nan Hua - within 1km phase2C
Pei Tong (my pri sch) - within 1km phase2A
            MGS - >2km PV applied
            SCGS - >2km

Chances of MGS & SCGS? I do not know if i shld ever tink of it!!! :xedfingers:

Since your girl prefers a girls school, do try your best to grant her wish. I’m not sure what was your own experience at Pei Tong, but I heard some bad things about that school. It is especially unsafe for girls.

MGS and SCGS >2km whether got chance to ballot, varies year to year. I suggest you apply MGS phase 2B, if didn’t get in then apply SCGS phase 2C, if didn’t get in then apply Bukit Timah Pri phase 2CS (or Pei Tong if you really prefer nearer home).

DS will be 2020 intake, DD another 2yrs later. Do you mind sharing privately with me why Pei Tong is unsafe for girls? Intending to enroll my children into Clementi Pri or Pei Tong as < 1km away.

              Hi need some advice 🙂

my boy is 4 years old and grandparents stay 1.5km from chongfu pri sch we stay at sengkang and considering moving over to stay with grandparents or remain at sengkang.

willing to do PV too. Need advise on how many hours of PV does chongfu pri need now.

Also if i fall under 2B would the distance affect chance of getting in as its within 1-2km.

Chongfu pv has to join n go thru Shhk.

Distance matters when there is a ballot.
You have to decide if moving over n get a place <1km to play safe or making a statutory declaration which will place you at 1-2km.

You are asking for 2019 registration?
Too late to be accepted as PV or as a SHHK member. Therefore, Phase 2B is an impossibility.
Only Phase 2C but that will mean ballot < 1km which your distance will not be eligible.

                      i hv 2 choices for 2019 registration.

                      1. plmgs (>2km SC)
                      2. chij oln (1km SC)
both intending to use my mum address as she will be main caretaker.
What are my chances for phase 2C if i do not do PV for these 2 school?
its tough for me to take time out to do PV.
                      thks!

If you use your mom's address, you will fall into 1-2km category. However, both schools are quite safe. CHIJ OLN will be safer as they have more seats for 2C. Now you just need to decide whether you prefer a Catholic school or Methodist school. You can consider the affiliation to secondary school onward.

my consideration is gals school. after which .. affiliation which i wld take consideration. But the distance and convenience for my parent wld also be impt.
CHIJ OLN for my parents and my house is one bus. PLMGS is out of the way if via public transport.

I am thinking of dropping PV for OLN which means i will go phase2C 1to2km SC right? base on past history still looks ok?

                        Hi petrinayim,

Firstly, if your boy is only 4 this year, I think you are in the wrong thread haha.

My girl is starting p1 in chongfu next year. For pv in chongfu, need to clock in 80 hours of pv. The school admin will work with you to ensure that you will get to do 80 hours exactly, you wont overclock nor underclock. It is the only SHHK school that you can still pv with the school instead of with SHHK.

I am in the 1-2km range. Distance is not a criteria when they choose pvs. However, I have some pv mummies who stay >2km and they failed the ballot. Historically the balloting for pvs has been for the distance range >2km, hence if you can get into the pv programme, quite likely to get in the school. However, competition for PV slot is very tough. Only 20 pvs were selected from around 100 applications when I joined. Their criteria for choosing pv is not very clear also. Basically they want to achieve diversity of the students' background and hence a lot will depend on the cohort of parents when you apply.

If your boy is 4 this year, I believe you are in time to apply for the pv, which will open from Aug-Oct this year. Go to the school website and download the form. There is no interview required when I joined in 2016.

                        Hope this helps.
