But my boy teacher is nice. Gave him the Hinch worksheet for him to do and get it submitted to be marked. The teachers are super caring.

Oh yes. That I can concur.

Tho HOD says strictly no, DC's English teacher agree to offer the papers for practices & marking. HOD only sheepishly said OK, when one day I met him to tell him things sorted out. He recognized me as one mum who always offered my help to prepare boys who needed help with English Oral practices every year.

We help where we can lah, knowing the resources are not always 'enuf'.

Come to think about it....what is so big deal after school program? Afterall, all schools also have after school programs. Does it mean these kids who attend it are a goner?

Don't think we shld view it that way.

I don't tend to look just at scores, bcoz if kids do not hv strong foundation, they'll be oscillating thro the scores. We must be able to identify where the weaknesses are & address it so that kids ustand the various elements (for language) and how it works or to be applied; or topics that they're not confident with & guide them to overcome the confusion to help them excel.

In a classroom context, the topics may be taught but for various reasons, the child cld hv missed grasping the concepts. Therefore, supplementary classes or Hinch comes in (as supplement to initial lesson taught).

        That's my view.

Estee, I agreed with you. Just that don’t like the idea that some view attending supplementary programs are for those who is not smart. Like yourself, this year I volunteer in giving extensive oral practices for English and Chinese to some boys who wants it. I feel that these boys have the potential but just being playful. I do it every single morning before school starts. It was fun and we did so many topics. The small group of 5s grew so big that I cannot handle anymore. My priority is the P6. Some P3 and P5 boys also keen. It was so fun to see each and every boys got improvement. Their recent prelim oral result was a surprise to some.

There is no in-house student care. But there are 2 off-site student care centers which the boys use. They are very different, so I suggest you check both out & compare them yourself:

Hi just checking…any parents know if the boys have received (or will be receiving) any printed notes for their Scratch Coding course?

My P2 told me that they have started the course during their PAL/ICT lesson (dunno which), and he seems to understand & remember the steps in his head (how to instruct the cat to “talk” in the speech bubble), but I would like to know exactly what they have been taught, whether it’s simple enough for parents to download the software to learn together at home etc.

Just to follow up. Today kiddo said they have done a part 2: Scratch combined with this robot called m0way. Apparently the school has invested in 1 robot per child so that each can have a proper go. I found a YouTube tutorial which gives a glimpse into what they are learning: https://youtu.be/cHowCzPkd1g

Still no notes from the school though 😂
