      starlight1968sg:
We are all waiting excitedly for yl to update us on the visit to vet.

is the dog a golden retriever?
yl has a big area if she wants to keep the dog but it's time consuming and the dog doesn't seem to be toilet trained.

This morning DH and I walked the dog to the nearest animal clinic which is 10-15 mins away. After walking for 5mins, it stopped on the road pavement again and refused to walk any further. No choice, I went back to take the car and drove it to the clinic. I was really scared I would jam break should the dog jump onto me while I was driving! 😂

At the clinic, the vet told us doggie is a Golden Retriever, at least 7yo, male but sterilized. Obese, almost 40kg plus lack muscles in the legs so can’t walk. Need to lose weight and exercise more. Vet said from the smell of the dog, seemed like it hadn’t bathed for many days already.

Found a microchip implanted on the doggie and advise us to inform AVA, provided its owner registered with them.

You probably hv no time to walk or run with the dog. Obesity, even in humans can cause a lot of issues with joints, health, etc.

He's not the active type & no muscle strength on his legs. Maybe that's why he was 'let go'? Hope the owner come fwd to own up. Poor doggy. Poor lee_yl :hugs:

Now we are not sure if the dog was lost or the owner abandoned it.

Doggie doesn’t eat those dried kibbles unless I mix with half a can of mashed beef. It is very guai, doesn’t move much and doesn’t bark at all, weird. Sis told me to put newspaper and towel for it to pee and poo.

Anyway, I am feeling so mentally and physically exhausted and very guilty cos PSLE is near. Wasted so much time and energy on the poor stray dog since yesterday.

Think it is a beautiful dog. Appears to be a cream coloured goldie.

Obese most likely cos overfed. It doesn’t look like a big bone breed so it’s preferred weight should be about 10kg lesser. Maybe it has already lost some weight given that it was roaming around on it’s own.

So you going to continue housing it?

Maybe you can put up some "Found" notices nearby? Or in the newspaper? Someone may be looking for it.

It's tough on lee_yl to continue housing doggy. She's alr got a load & now guilt for much time away fr supporting her DD2 prepare for PSLE.

                    lee_yl,
Suggest BEST to send it to SPCA as this will ensure not only better specialised care, I believe SPCA will help look for owner or owise higher chances for it to be adopted as many who wants a companion, will visit SPCA unless you 'conduct a doggy Open House for adoption'. Oops! 🦆

From its obese dirty state, it sounds like it was neglected and then abandoned.

Those who abandoned their pets may be charged …
