Sannnz, Will still suggest that you go down physically to the school of your choice on last day of registration to see the odds. If it's really heavily oversubscribed, not sure if you will still want to take the risk of balloting or maybe choose a school that is 1-2km away. After phase 2Cs, it will be up to MOE allocation based on schools that still have leftover seats (you can rank preferences) and which might be further from your home than what you had expected.

Taking tt leave just to wait ard to w/draw if oversubscribed & run to ano to me is not giving yourself that ballot-in chance & the next sch is not exactly your choice school, so not much diff to check for next nearest allocation.
North Vista is the only school left within my 1km radius and if I give up without a fight (touch wood; hope not) then I am depriving my son of that last chance.
But may I ask (again touch wood) for phase 3 can I request moe to allocate my son to my 3rd choice if there is still vacancy, or will they assign randomly? -

And I realised that though MOE tried to increase vacancies in a number of schools, they left out those ‘matured’ schools, I.e. Punggol Pri. Not sure what MOE will say of I ask them about it…

Mich1502, it's funny how those parents have no qualms to send their kids to branded school halfway across SG and we parents who are just begging for a neighbourhood school near our house are deprived of the chance. So upset.

Sannz, that’s the most frustrating part!
If I am balloting for a popular school and got balloted out then probably serve me right, nothing to argue about… should more or less expected it.
But it is just a neighbourhood school for the convenience…
Now i am left with schools more than 2km away, so many logistical issues to think about.
And if i get balloted out again… i already don’t know what to do… -

An important factor whether a school can increase it’s vacancies is the school’s infrastructure. Short of shipping in containers to double up as classrooms, if a school has reached max capacity because of space constraint, then that’s it for the short term. Schools like Punggol Primary is even more unlikely to increase vacancies since in almost every other year, it may not even filled up all available spaces at the end of the registration exercise. -
In space constrain Spore, it's hard to find enuf land to build public housing or public schools. When the population move, its hard to expand or contract school spaces or places & just as challenging to move teaching resources ard, tho the last shld be possible with strong govt will.
It's alr tough for couples to time or plan their offsprings! :evil: To ask for more of MOE, they'll hv to mobilize SLA, HDB, etc. So, guess just do your very best for your child(ren) after this P1 exercise. There are even more challenges in the pipeline to nurture & develop our kids. I'm sure Sporeans are resourceful & resilient enuf to find solutions to every problems in life & strength yr will.
