During sale, royal sporting house or sportslink has 2 pair of white/black school shoes for $49 each or $59 each. Addidas or Reebok brand, velcro type. I find more durable for my hyper active kids. Watch out for sale periods. Usually way before year end n mid year. Popular sizes run out of sizes very fast.
As for shoes, it's been a while since my time and I hear that kids can wear white or black (depending on school) sports shoes to school now? No need to just wear those canvas shoes? Would like to get something with more support for my son...

for shoes, schools are more flexible now. bata days are over.
I am particular about the sole padding since they would need to jump and the padding has to be thick. I get either reebok or adidas school shoes. don't buy too late though (as in late dec) as common sizes are sold out fast. for lower primary, I get Velcro ones. morning rush, just wear without having to wait for them to tie shoe laces.
as they progressed to p3, I switched to shoe laces especially for my son.

Where do u get the Velcro Adidas sch shoes from? Thanks!
Yes. We bought 2 pairs one year but kids grow so fast, next thing we know gotta give away as their feet outgrows so quickly.

I buy different sizes for the 2 pairs...either 1/2 or 1 size bigger.
it's amazing how fast kids shoot up when they attend first school. with the newfound freedom to buy their own food, they tend to eat more and jump around during recess. within 3 months, they grow upwards and sideway. from now to jan, it's time to teach them to buy their own food and eat within a certain time as they would also need to visit the toilet before the bell rings.

my daughter's feet seem to grow very fast.
some schools want students to wear 'own' socks with the school initials and they can be quite thick. so, it's better to buy 1/2 size bigger.
my daughter's primary school socks are thicker at the ankle...perhaps to cushion the jumping during PE. when buying school shoes, I usually press the soles to see if they have sufficient cushioning.
