My girl say her friend went on stage last year to face school because hair was too long.Yes they started this ‘shaming’ stuff since 2017. The weird part is that they ‘punish’ the kids for things like acknowledgement forms to any forms not submitted (which I think half the time it is the parents’ fault as we forgot) and most likely not their fault. Honestly, I m wondering what type of values is the school trying to inculcate in the kids, u get punish for Faults not due to you??
This year, some or all schools are to have oral test in the afternoon. My Son submitted the acknowledgement form to General Office and even went to school early to submit the form. Lo and behold, dun know what happen, the form teacher never receive the form. My Son was singled out the next day after oral as one of candidates who ‘did not’ submit form and the form teacher told him he will get zero for his oral results due to this. Can u imagine what a shock my Son got. He was very affected by this as he tried his best in oral and he was to get zero just because the form was not there and not because he did not submit. I had no choice but to write in to the form teacher to explain and tell her not to penalise him for a fault not due to him. :slapshead: -

Pardon me for saying this but I think it is important that you hear full story from your child. The way I see it,your child may not be giving you correct information at all.It is like you just hear a bit & come to conclusion.
Last year even when one or two kidz late the whole level was punished. All the level not allowed to play recess.Jollyjam:
My gal told me the same thing. A few of her classmates got their photo taken and shamed on stage. If this is the school way of disciplining, its ridiculous !
Initially, kids were shamed because of latecoming. Now, forget to bring books or submit form also kanna.
Why need to instill such fear in kids?! They are only primary school level. This is unnecessary.
My child just told me that no such thing has happened before.
The students in the level may not be allowed to play at the parade square during recess when they misbehave badly & the discipline mistress always will tell the children about consequences they will face.I personally think this iz character building.Otherwise, soon all our children will be like strawberries. -

With all due respect to the parents and children, I do empathise with what has happened.
I like to clarify that the school had given ample notice to the children to convey the timeline to their parents as one of my children is also in Primary 3.
While this may have been a tough reinforcement, I feel that the school had their reasons for doing so to inculcate the value of responsibility in our children.
Personally, I feel that there will be tough times in life that our children will need to face in real life in the future thus it is very important for them to be guided with the right values from young.
Love will be tough at times but I feel we can choose to view this from a more positive angle. -

Very wrong to shame kidz on stage facing school. There can be other way to teach them. Young kidz are sensitive. School must understand young kidz can feel hurt by this. My friends say their kidz are scared when teacher take photo of them to put in school hall screen. Some kidz are upset by this. School has not good method teaching this value. They need change method. With all due respect to the parents and children, I do empathise with what has happened.

Sometimes easier for us to say. We will never know what the kid is going through, standing on stage with their photo flashed for whole school to see and then getting scolded in front of hundreds of schoolmates by the Principal. I do empathise with these kids. This is not teaching the kids to be resilient. Nor will this action teach the kids to be responsible. They might just rebel and hate going to school.
All kids are an individual. Their learning capabilities are different. Your kid might not have been called up before because u did a great job teaching them to be more organised. Unfortunately not all kids are the same. Some take longer to process informations. The school need to know this. School is supposed to be a happy place where kids learn and pick up life skills. Shaming them in public for minor things like forgetting to submit forms or handing in homework is wrong. Why is there a need be so extreme? These kids are only in primary school. I am sure the school and teachers can do better than this. -
Dear parents ,
I understand your concerns. However, this is not the platform to discuss this matter as the best person to clarify with is the school.
I feel that instead of taking to social media, we should give the feedback to the school by emailing them or contacting the school to discuss this matter.
That should be the correct way to engage the school and not by venting our frustration out on social media. We all want the best for our children so let us do the right thing by engaging the school in the correct way and work with the school. The school is always ready to hear from the parents as well.
Here’s wishing you all a wonderful term break with your children. -
Kiasu forum for anyone to give feedbacks. I call school yesterday. I want others know what is happening. Shaming kidz is wrong.

School now say they never say to teachers take photos of kidz. School blame teachers for this. School say they never tell teacher to do this. Teachers do by self take photos of kidz.
Principal show photos in hall to school and scold kidz on stage. Now school say never ask teacher take photo.
What did kidz do??? They not bring gep form on time. School take kidz photo , bring on stage. Shame and scold front of school. Show Kidz photo in school hall.
not good.
