the issue on HDB lease and how ageing flats will drop in value is already a sore point for many...but the PM had to rub more salt into injury by mentioning (and reminding) everyone during the recent rally. NOW, he told the whole world his bonus is the amount is about S$770,000 :slapshead: our MIW living in luxurious ivory towers.

I don’t envy the package they’re getting. In private sectors, there are Bankers & CEOs who get 6-12 mths of bonus just by pressing numbers & stress others to perform. I know one who may not get big package, but is pain in the *** when he point blank told graduates w/o PhDs, ppl are only worthy of washing test-tubes.

If I want to acquire red eye, I must be preserved to face red-faced citizens or behind the veil netizens who can point fingers but hv no ability to strategize Spore growth with big decisions that can be derailed by other nations’ back-track decisions. I don’t want to hv green eyes when surely our leaders (whether low or high position) needs certain level of safety, security & maintaining a household to help him run his family. Owise, we end up lots of green/blue eye monsters rushing to their face to pour acid, then it’ll not be good for an alr growing 1st world country’s ppl to be seen as unappreciative only envy but not acting constructively to donate a human organ or lend a helping hand to the underprivileged amongst us.

There are rich ones (small %tage) & there are middle-class but rmbr, there are still a lot living below yr ability & means. Use time wisely to uplift them then time griping those few. I’ve my gripes against some unscrupulous bzmen or bankers who does nothing to strategize & uplift a country but to grow rich & buy properties around the world, with some even oppressing others as landlords. These are the ones we shld criticize for lack of sympathy, empathy & humanity.

Let those who hv & not work to contribute to others, fatten their own coffers & grow more fats to direct where they want their health go.

But hey, guess I shld just let ppl live as they seem fit. Each of us hv to answer to our Creator the deeds we’ve on earth.

Nothing we own can be brought along to grave. Not S$770,000 & not a dime. All will be equal as we come naked as babes & will go naked in dust. Hv peace & contentment within our spirit.

Have a good evening time with your love ones at home.

they are not working in private sectors. they are ministers serving the people of Singapore. if they want to enjoy fat wallets, they should be in the private sector. frankly many of them fail to deliver.

              My friend,
I don't think they fail to deliver. Maybe not to yr expectations. But I would say, today were very diff fr our ASEAN neigbors. We're much ahead & hv been reasonably safe. They're not perfect, owise we will be having God leading Spore. That will be perfect! I know a few who had no will to serve w/o special privileges or perks. They've gone back to being BOD & pte sector. Don't answer to citizens finger pointing. We can differ in our outlook, but u can't deny Spore has done exceedingly well w/o natural resources like our neighbors. Our GDP is higher than the US & we certainly hv a better leader than current clown. Hopefully get impeached.

My friend is currently staying in a mansionette. He said his family seems to be the only Singaporean family left in the old block. The rest of the units in his block appear to be tenanted out with the owners staying in private.

                  Just thinking aloud.
1). Will VERS cause our tax bill to go up thus we need to pay higher income tax and GST?
2). Why should we, as taxpayers, foot the bill for VERS when the majority of the HDB dwellers in old HDB blocks are likely to be non-Singaporean tenants? Use our money to upgrade for them to enjoy? Or to enhance the blocks that will likely result in a higher rental for the units’ owners? By the way, many of these owners actually live in condos and rent out their HDB!

esteema, thanks.. I believe some bankers already earning that kind of bonus 20 years ago. my friend came out to do bz and in just short few years time, already surpassed half mil. I don't think the highest position cant earn that yeah 🦆

                      Someone Whatsapp me this:

Let me calculate the total salary of the Singapore deputy prime minister (DPM) for you.

                      (1) The base salary of the Singapore DPM is S$1.87 million.
                      (2) Assuming that he got the average performance bonus of 4.1% in 2017, this means that his performance bonus was S$638,917 in 2017. His performance bonus is even higher than the salary of the president of the United States.
                      (3) All the ministers get a National Bonus (NB) of up to 6 months. Based on the formula to calculate the National Bonus (NB), they would have gotten 4.5 months of NB last year. The DPM would have gotten S$701,250. (*see formula in link below)
                      (4) All the ministers also get a 13th-month annual allowance. This is an additional S$187,000 for the DPM.
                      (5) All the ministers also get an annual variable component of 0 to 1.5 months. Let's say, the deputy prime minister got 1 month, which would give him another S$187,000.
                      (6) In total, the DPM (and the other ministers) received a total bonus/allowance of at least 9.6 months.

In total, the Singapore deputy prime minister would have earned at least S$3.58 million last year. This is nearly 2 times his base salary.
