My DD2, who is now P3, had a very good experience at Great Beginnings. The teachers are warm and caring, but also serious about making sure the children are ready for primary. The directress was trained in London, and you can feel her dedication to children and to montessori methods.Hi
Can anyone advise me on Great Beginnings Montesorri? My gal is turning 3 next year and would like to start looking for schools for her.
Thanks
Hui
Honestly, I can't think of anything negative to say about the school. If you are looking for a smaller school that offers a lot of individualized attention, I'd say give them a try. -
Does anyone know of any good childcare in these East areas? My kid is turning 2 this June.

hello goteborg,
my child is turning 2 in Aug
i've already placed her in Praise Kids in Katong. However, am not too pleased and am already sourcing for another centre.
my elder daughter was with Bedok MMI till Nov last year. i find the principal there very good. she has experience running child care centres and it really shows. she knows almost every child that comes out through the door by name, very impressive. she's very, very kind. i know because she extended her helping hand to me. the teachers are also very pleasant. until today, my dd still remembers 'Teacher Sharon'.
the only reason why i didn't send my #2 to Bedok MMI was because, at a certain point after I turned SAHM, it was very difficult to send my #1 to school every morning. she'd be crying, refusing to go in. to make things worse, it was difficult to observe because you can only peek into the school through a small window panel on a door in the office. finally, i withdrew her fm the school last Nov. because it was simply no point making my dd and myself upset every morning. due to that experience with #1, i didn't want to take a risk and make my #2 go through a similar situation. also, i didn't feel good going back after withdrawing #1. you know wat i mean.
however, go down and take a look if bedok MMI is convenient for you. if you're comfortable with the centre's layout, then I highly recommend it.
each child takes to the same things differently. it might not have worked out for my child during her last few months there, but it might be the perfect place for your child. -
I have enrolled by daughters to Bedok Methodist Church. Went to their open house and like the environment very much.

I signed up for the new CH centre @ Fragrance Building, 168 Changi Road (though I'm moving in to that area sometime in Aug 10). You can go check it out, nicely setup and very condusive. Teachers are good and also now got opening promo so good deal for me
They going to have open house next Sat 22nd May, so you can go check it out.
Cheers!

Hi Anxious daddyAm looking for a new Kindy for my kid in the east. looked thru the threads. Seems like Bethesa (katong) and st hilda's are highly recommended. Any latest review or comment on them ?
Thanks !....Anxious daddy.
I'm also in process of searching for a kindy for my K1 child. Just visited Bethesda Katong very recently and was given a tour and explanation by the principal herself.
Personally, the environment looks fine - clean, spacious. However, i am hesitant as the group size for K1 is large. For afternoon session, there are 2 K1 classes. And each class was already hitting about 23 to 25 kids each. Still within the MOE teacher-child ratio guidelines though.
i suppose if your child is able to focus and not easily distracted, then this might work for you.
In the process of discussing and sharing with principal about my reason for transferring and where my child is in terms of Maths progress (as an example), as well as the class size he is now accustomed to, I was subsequently quite surprised when principal commented that perhaps Bethesda is not suitable for my child. She quoted the larger group size and the comparatively slower pace as reasons.
Just my sharing. Suggest you make a trip down and recee for yourself.
Every parent has different needs and priorities. And every child too. -
