If by a simple thought experiment one can already prove that choice (4) is wrong, will MOE still mark choice (2) as wrong?pungg:

Does anyone knows if the +1/2/3 for HCL is subjected to moderation by bell curve? Or it will be a straight forward score based on the raw score?

It's subjected to moderation by bell curve and the bonus points will only be awarded to the \"top 30% of the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) cohort who take Higher Chinese at the PSLE\" (https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/secondary-one-posting-exercise/eligibility-letter), i.e. student may get Distinction for HCL but it's still possible he/she will not receive any bonus points. -

I would like to know what materials, when used to fabricate 3 solids (identical in everything), when submerged in water, one piece will float and the other will sink! -
whoever said 4 is the answer haven’t really clearly explain why? I still think 2 is the answer, someone make noise to the Straits Time and gets this publicized what an ambiguous question this is that is so unlike MOE’s standard to do so. (prior year Sci papers were fine)

I think it is difficult to answer the question about the balls unless you see the exact wording of the question as well as the picture provided.
Given the knowledge of the children (including those who are so-called "further thinkers"!!!) the most logical answer is (2) - B only.
The kids know that all objects have mass, and that mass is the amount of matter in an object. Therefore, some objects have more matter (stuff) inside of them than others. So the kids have been taught about density / atomic structure indirectly.
But I agree that answer 4 is also possibly correct! It is notably unscientific to have an exam paper that allows for contradictory answers. But let’s not kid ourselves. Such mistakes occur in every PSLE exam and every school exam. It’s the same for everyone, so it’s fair in a way! -

From their text they learn wood material plastic material glass material. However wood can be different type of wood some would sink n some would float. So does different type of wood consider same material or diff matterial?

If a hollow ball is consider a solid ball?
I would definitely think the ans is 4( however i hope moe can accept both 2 and 4 as correct answer base on the what is taught in sch)
Eg. Both ball y and z could be make up of sponge . One float and the others sink , could it be one ball is soak with water hence mass increase therefore sink?
