Depends on the definition of same material.Take time to analyse what does choice (4) mean. If it’s neither A nor B then it means that either “all 3 materials are the same” or “materials X and Y different and materials Y and Z same”
I would like to know what materials, when used to fabricate 3 solids (identical in everything), when submerged in water, one piece will float and the other will sink!
From their text they learn wood material plastic material glass material. However wood can be different type of wood some would sink n some would float. So does different type of wood consider same material or diff matterial?
Depends on the definition of solid ball
If a hollow ball is consider a solid ball?
I would definitely think the ans is 4( however i hope moe can accept both 2 and 4 as correct answer base on the what is taught in sch)
Eg. Both ball y and z could be make up of sponge . One float and the others sink , could it be one ball is soak with water hence mass increase therefore sink?
Wonder which is the model ans from moe? -
I think it is difficult to answer the question about the balls unless you see the exact wording of the question as well as the picture provided.
Given the knowledge of the children (including those who are so-called "further thinkers"!!!) the most logical answer is (2) - B only.
The kids know that all objects have mass, and that mass is the amount of matter in an object. Therefore, some objects have more matter (stuff) inside of them than others. So the kids have been taught about density / atomic structure indirectly.
But I agree that answer 4 is also possibly correct! It is notably unscientific to have an exam paper that allows for contradictory answers. But let’s not kid ourselves. Such mistakes occur in every PSLE exam and every school exam. It’s the same for everyone, so it’s fair in a way! -

Antonyms of hollow is solid.
Ball Z cannot be hollow, since it is a solid ball …
In Solids Wiki definition “In solids molecules are closely packed. It is characterized by structural rigidity and resistance to changes of shape or volume. ”
A sponge soaked with water is not a solid.
So I think, we do not need to know the mass to know that answer is 2. -
I do not know the exact wording of the question but possible to refer Solid as a state of matter (I.e. not liquid or gas)

My students said is 6
Ans is 6Macc0608:
Is there also one question about counting the number of cubes with 4 sides painted. The students said is too easy but is 3 marks wuestions.
What is the answer for this? DD says she cannot visualize -
I am curious why that school teacher and tutor say it’s choice (4).
Btw, a sponge soaked with water is call a solid+liquid mixture. And can a solid ball be hollow, strictly speaking, no, else we are just playing with words -
May I know how the t-score is calculated and applied for the PSLE result? I’m kinda confused… thanks!

T-score uses this formula:
T = 50 + 10[(x-m)/s]
where x is the candidate’s mark for the subject
m is the average mark (mean) scored by all the candidates
s is the spread of the marks around the average mark (standard deviation)
Each subject has a score calculated from that formula. Then add up all 4 subjects = the magic 3 digit number in November. -

You can refer to Seab website for actual formula. But it involves a std deviation value which we will never know. Depends on cohort performance.
As a rough gauge on your child performance, you can simply x0.72 to get the total aggregate.
