Me Time!

Esteema, where did the boy go through the chemo? If NUH, NUH’s nurse will offer to come and check the boy’s home to identify what needs to be improved in the living environment. That was what happened to my friend’s niece when she went through chemo for leukemia. Tell the parents not to reject the offer.

Yes, boy at NUH. They surveyed the flat when he was unusually in/out of hospital with fever so frequently. Doc told family chemo not working & next option is bone marrow transfer. Family feeling distraught now. Hv to take care of younger girl so parents can focus on keeping their son company in hospital. I’m feeling hapless how else to help. Sent my DS home for his revision.

Sigh... we can only pray...
My friend's niece couldn't make it. Chemo did not work on her and she was too weak for bone marrow transplant. In her last 2 weeks, she begged her mom to let her go because it was too painful to endure. She was the only child so her mom didn't want to give up until she saw how painful she was.
But I have heard other success leukemia stories such as a baby that is now 10 years old. She was on a very strict diet. All must be natural. Not given anything that is artificial (no preservatives, no food whitener, no colours, etc). She never tasted instant noodles or KFC or McDonalds in her whole life. She is fine with it because her world has been restricted since she was a baby. Another success story is a boy who got leukemia at 15 years old. Now he is 30+, married and have children. I guess each life has its own fate. -
ngl2010,
Thank you for your sharing. It’s very encouraging & im praying very much for his recovery. It pains me to see such a bright child, marooned for last 8 mths w/o stepping out of home & even then her immune system compromised & was in/out hospital so frequently. I feel the parents’ pain too & I can imagine how draining it has been physically & emotionally.
So, what is a little ache? That’s all my fault coz I’ve not been exercising my long painting strokes. It woke me up more to know there are many amongst our 1st world citizens, suffering in some form of pain & in need of human touch of love & care. To me, every child is precious & we shld do all we can to give them a fighting chance. -

hope the boy is able to get bone marrow transplant from a suitable donor soon. chemo is very strong and children may not be able to take it. -
Yes. Think it's very tough for kids. I see him listless whenever I visited. The father is testing for a match & hope to be the donor. Hope it works out better than chemo.

Thunderstorm in yesterday and today afternoon

Exhausted fr baking MIL’s bday cake yday. Today will be dressing the cake up after lunch in time for dinner celebration. Thinking doing a simple floral cake rather than a design cake. Didn’t get niece over to put in her creativity after her PSLE coz DS & other nieces are in midst of preparing for next week’s exams. So, it’s a quiet solitude project.
