      Sysac:
My son just graduated from DLSS. My personal opinion - meet good dedicated teachers in P5/P6.

It was unfortunate that his FT changed at mid-year in P5. After that, things did not go smoothly for him with his FT and co-FT. They spent their time disciplining the children instead of motivating/inspiring them to achieve their potential.

All the extra classes they made the children stay back to prepare for PSLE did not help much as the sessions were mostly used to catch up for lessons not completed during normal periods.

The MT teacher was also not dedicated. Coincindentally, she was mostly sick during crucial times - a week leading up to prelims and PSLE.

I can only thank my son's Math and MT tutors for his results. They stepped up to help him achieve his grades for PSLE.

Other than the FT not to your expectations, were there other things about the school you think missed the mark? I think it is like striking lottery if one meets a dedicated Teacher. To me, it boils down to the P because it is P's job to instill the kind of culture she wants the school to achieve.
How is the school environment? From the post, it doesnt give me a positive feeling. Some schools are well sought after because the children produce good PSLE result (sometime may not be due to the Teachers but the children calibre and parents' involvement/tuition) or of the nurturing, inclusive culture.

Hi I’m new here. My dd will be due to register for P1 next year 2019 (entering P1 in year 2020).

I think there is no open house at DLS so I do hope to find out more about this primary school.

Can anyone be kind to share how’s the teachers for P1 classes? I heard from a friend that the teacher turnover rate is quite high, not sure if this is true?

And may I know if anyone put your child with the student care in DLS? is it safe, are the student care in charge responsible? are there bad reviews?

Perhaps we could set up whatsapp group for those kids joining P1 in DLS for year 2020.

          Please guide me.

          Blessings.

Hi… i noticed prior to 2016 DLS go for balloting at phase 2c. But not in recent years. Any one know why that is so? What changed?

Also, is it worth travelling all the way from yishun to DLS? How long do parents who have their kids in here spend in the morning to public transport?
            Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply, mummyscopio. I am just wondering how many within this group stays in yishun/woodlands. Maybe can collate the numbers and then maybe speak to a bus company to provide such service to and from DLS.

Did you manage to find a school bus service from sch to Yishun? I tried both schoolber and grabshuttle, think we need to make up the numbers.

I'm not sure about schoolber but grabshuttle has private cars so I think even minimum of 4 is enough. However, haven't yet received a response from them meaning not enough to start a route. :frustrated:
