Not sure why parents these days are so scared of getting result and dislike the high-scorers being gloried during PSLE release. They themselves have been thru this before. High-scorers attain good results for a reason and fully deserved to be recognised for their achievement. No point keep grumbling and thinking on ways to make result collection less stressful. If their kids are the one who are high scorers, they would have sing a different song.

I don't think anyone is saying that. Celebrate all you need if you get good grades; its great to let off steam and it's good to get some real celebration for a job well done. What we are trying to differentiate is the acts of celebration and getting results - out of the whole student pool, can we guarantee that everyone will get what they want? It's unlikely. There will be students who did not do as well as they have expected. We are just proposing a separation of the two, so that people who did not do well gets some comfort in their misery.

A few years back when my child receive her PSLE results, some of the classmates were crying. Feel so sad...

Maybe MOE should just let parents check results on line...

In life, there will always be winners and losers, that is a fact and nothing is going to change this world. Nobody can control nobody’s emotion, if crying is one way of expressing one’s emotion, I think so be it then, no big deal about it. If by crying, one is motivated to do better the next time, it may be a good lesson learnt for the individual. I am not sure why people these days are not able to accept failure, learn from it and move on. I think parents should not be too protective, I can’t imagine when a kid step into the society and get scolded by boss or fail to deliver the task assigned by his/her boss, come home and cry in front of daddy/mummy. It is always good to toughen up the younger generation and not weaken them to the extent of not able to accept failure

yalor, what is the objective of glorifying actually? cannot spur to motivate the peers anymore..and so many parents there, just give the slips and up to them if they want to stay..not to say not happy for the top scorers..in such situation, take care own and kid fragile heart more important, I think.

Anyway, whatever i just said is not going to be music to everyone’s ears…I already state my point and will not respond to any further comments on this matter. All the best for those taling PSLE this year and in the years to come.

:slapshead: Low tscore means failure? A loser?

Nowadays, if one has supportive parents with deep pockets, it is not hard to get 250 and above. So if one kid got 250, he’s the winner, another kid who scored below 250 would be the loser? Actually, these are wrong values. Education should not be like that.

                  I like @cloud’s suggestion. Check on-line.

I think Moe or teachers prefer the personal touch of giving out results slip to their students . It may be the last time my ds female Form Teacher hug/ shakes hands with every single child in her class.

I felt rather touched n heart warming at the scene & how the kids interact with each other , boys are rather cute , the tap their pal shoulders giving encouragements. Girls are more reserved - I din see any reactions that time .
to give out results in Sch hall - prob the P wants to show some stats of the students achievements- but no naming , no going on stage are greatly appreciated and acts of being kind / considerate to others .
It’s Not about kids / parents can’t take pressure ... let’s be mindful n sensitive . Love your neighbors la 😉
Anyway , there is award ceremony to invite back the top psle scorers back to Sch to collect book prizes

It is not a @&$!!& competition. If the kids were taking part in some Olympics or whatever, of course the losers have to grit thru their emotions and clap for the Gold medal winner.

PSLE to me is more like some ABRSM grade certificate. A one-off exam that candidates have practiced & mugged for. To receive that cert that allows them to progress to the next stage. Whether get pass/merit/distinction, how many absolute marks on that paper, after a while it all fades away in importance…
