Totally true 😂
I think only the parents are anxiously waiting for the results. For the kids, its PLAY PLAY PLAY!

This must be their longest and most stress free period throughout all 6 years of studying :)
Yup! Freedom & fresh air! 🕺 :imcool:

My kid told me that a classmate's mom has started to give him Secondary 1 assessment books to complete. So not much of freedom and fresh air for some children I guess.

I believe those on tutions will have some get ahead lessons started too. Look at all the pop up posts here on school holidays lessons. "Lessons" and "School holidays", not a good combo for children.

I told my kid to learn something useful during this once in a life time memorable school holiday. My kiddo decided to learn typing skills.

Yes DD’s classmate went for a secondary survival camp straight after the exams. Another friend started her DS on sec 1 work as well. DD has been playing non-stop for 1 month. Tk her brain is rusty already.

Is it cruel to get kiddo (no HMT) to start reading 延禧攻略?

Of cos! Never ever let those narrow MOE classfications like HMT, gep etc… determine the child’s learning interest. Not cruel if the kiddo starts to like it.

Hee hee. Dun have much interest reading Chinese, so must resort to this. Supplemented with watching the relevant episode. Otherwise will never pick up a Chinese book. Trying to train kiddo in the essential fine skill of Chinese reading known in my younger days as 有边读边,没边乱仙. 😉

That's my post-PSLE project for kiddo. I figure even if cannot finish the books, after say 200 pages (2 volumes actually more than 700 pages) at a miserable 2-4 pages a day, should still show improvement in vocabulary and sentence structure by the time school opens for Sec 1, right?

So far after only a few days already learnt such eclectic vocab as 棺材,太后,宫女,贵妃,奴才,独一无二,一无所有, 大发雷霆 etc. And also that there was a dynasty known as 清. 😆

Amazing! It’s so much better than just drilling with tuition. Do get your kid to write a book review after reading. It’s hard to get my DDs to read Chinese books outside school syllabus. At most is watching Happy Blessings on toggle and then there is this shooting game called PUBG.
