Must have strong foundation for each topic before doing exam papers, so usually topical sc assessment books are needed in the beginning stage.

Do u recommend to start going through P6 topics or go through P5 topics during the holidays to close any gaps? The runway to PSLE is short.

Both; doing new topics in P6; at the same time doing revision papers for P3 to P5 and strengthen the weaker topics.

I had private tutors for Maths and Science in 2018 - P5, but my son scored poorly in both Subjects and I stay near yew tee. Can someone suggest tutors or tution centres near my place. I found mindstretcher. I hve enrolled him for English there. For maths and science can someone suggest please.

You may wish to consider to get your private tutors to revise the entire P5 work with your kid.

By sending him to Mindstretcher for P6 Maths and Science does not mean that his results will improve cos if he didn’t do well for his P5 SA2, it means his understanding of the P5 Maths/Science topics is not clear.

After all P6 lessons will only cover topics in P6 which will still leave him blurred about his weak areas in P5 Maths/Science topics

P6 Sc syllables has the highest weightage among the P3, 4, 5 and 6 topics. Some P3/P4 questions will definitely come out but it’s likely only a handful.


Having said that, girl’s Sc teacher once mentioned that the majority of P6 students tend to get P3/P4 questions wrong cos they forgot / no time to revise lower block.

I think best is, must recap everything learnt in P3/P4 at least once and do it thoroughly. Then just before PSLE to focus mainly on P5/P6 topics.

Maybe 15th Nov to 30th Nov cover everything from P3/P4 once. Then whole of Dec do P5/P6 Sc topics.

I say I dont want to buy any more books but bought 2 more Sci books today, by Janet Sim, I see the explanation immediately after qn looks so refreshing and interesting…Sci can study on own or not?

This holiday should be going through Pri 5 in my view. For Chinese, Pri 5 has 18 whooping chapters in 5AB (20 Chapters for HCL). Though we still revise P5 in Pri 6, 1 round revision still not enough to score MCQ full marks for those scoring 'B' in P5 SA2.

Suggest you speak to your kid and his Chinese teacher to find out what’s wrong. Then, you can 对症下药. That said, the basic remedy will usually be 多听，多说，多读，多写.
