Would you mind providing more information such as:

        - how was you son’s Pri 5 SA2 CL result as compared to SA1: he improved from 44 to 49.5
        - details on the marks/mark range for each component (so that we can gauge his strength/weakness as well as set realistic target/goal): he failed his Oral by 2 marks, failed his paper 1 & 2 marginally also
        - his foundation in CL (how he did previously in Pri 3 & 4): he scored like 51, 52 for P3 and P4

          FantasyLandDreams:
How about for maths? Revise p5 topics first, or teach p6 topics first before going back to p5 topic revision?

Do/revise P5 topics, can do Specimen/revision Papers to dignose and strengthen those weaker topics.
For P6 new topics, can consider doing topics fractions & ratios first.

                      Hi Giggler,

Thanks for the details. Both you and your son can take heart from his improvement shown in SA2 vs. SA1 and also the fact he wasn't affected much by the 'jump' from Pri 4 to Pri 5. Do continue to encourage him and let him know there's enough time to make further progress (you can show him this example: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=92344#p1879669 😄 )

My sharing is quite long so I'll break them up into parts:

                      https://i.postimg.cc/wjFnPWj7/paper1.jpg\">
Our target is to earn as many marks as possible from the content grading while obtaining a reasonable score for expression & structure component. (Rubric for compo marking can be found here: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=51186&start=120#p1877322)

If you see your son showing marked improvement in the above processes after a couple of months, then you can incorporate the suggestions I posted here: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=51186&start=120#p1877323

                        ...

                        https://i.postimg.cc/mZ9dHTKb/oral.jpg\">
Despite oral conversation being tested in the form of video rather than picture, knowing how to ‘call’ the objects/people in Chinese is still the ‘basis’ towards expressing one’s view and thoughts in CL oral. (E.g. there’s a dangerous action of someone playing on escalator and the candidate ‘calls’ the escalator“楼梯”instead)

If all of the above are not feasible for you, then do consider getting the books I recommended here: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=81235&p=1880497&hilit=oral#p1880497 and identify the nouns/verbs mentioned in the books & videos that your son does not know (how to say in Chinese). Do the same if he was given oral package notes from his school this year.
