Hi, we are staying very far. Would like to check anyone can share with me the school hours like? What time they dismiss? How many days are they require to stay back for cca? Any other reasons for stay back beside cca? and what time are the girls will be dismissed? Thank you.

Hi, the school hours ranges from 1++pm to 6++pm depending on whether you are in a competitive CCA or if you do HCL/Art Elective/3rd Lang etc. School-wide post-school hours programmes or learning journeys will also impact dismissal time.
Generally, secondary school hours in any school are much longer than primary.
      Competitive CCA 3x-4x a week. Non-competitive 1x-2x a week.
My daughter has school mates living in Yishun, Sembawang, Pasir Panjang, Bedok, Serangoon etc They scored btw 247 to 26+. Quite a number of them chose not to do HCL in Sec1. Alot of them qualified for TripSci next year. So I don’t think distance has affected their results.

Hi. I’m considering IJ TP for my daughter, though she prefers IJ Katong.

Can anyone share if IJ TP requires students in normal academic to get a laptop and are overseas programs open to these students?
My daughter is in express. So far, she has used the computer for art, hw assignments, tdp projects etc Her teacher also disburse class notes online too. According to her, her team mates from NA oso do the same.
Overseas programmes are rare but open to all. But usually the school/CCA leaders are selected. School/CCA leaders are variously from NA and Exp classes. Selection is NOT based on academic results. Very unlike my older children’s schools.
I love the fact that this school is very strict on discipline (no hp usage etc) and they care for the girls alot.
Certain classes are more competitive than others especially the 1/1, 1/2 classes. But I wld say competition is at a comfortable pace. If one works hard, one will do well.

I think this year alot of the primary sch p6s will b gg to sec side. This year psle results extremely bad despite easy papers. I recall the number of students getting 250 n 260s are alot compared to 2 years back. The cutoff for ij tp might b up this year i guess.

My dd was not an affiliate. I was concerned that she may not fit in. During her year, those who are 247 and above are mostly not from IJ Toa Payoh Pri. They came from many different IJ Primaries. So most were new to Toa Payoh. I guess they probably wanted a change after 6 years in Toa Payoh : )
Dd made ALOT of new friends. She was literally crying with her besties and classmates on the last week of school cuz they will be streamed to different classes of their choice. I can’t imagine the scenario in Sec4 during graduation.
I felt rather sad too. These girls came to my place often and they really grew on me. They are so sweet and supportive for the past 2 years. They helped each other in hw and projects. They share notes and are totally not competitive. They listen/cried with each other if someone failed a test. My dd had no problem asking for help or missed notes during class. Even the best students were very open to share her notes and teach those who cldnt understand.
I think Mrs Karen Tay did a great job, building the camaraderie and the school spirit among the girls. Really sad to see her leave.
My daughter is very happy there.

I think depends on the class she is in. Ur gal Probably from 1/1 or 1/2. The rest would b affiliates. The affiliates do not have any other choices to go to mostly 200 to 240 for this year. Primary side i would say very relax no stress so long as u can go next door is considered good.

If ur gal score is high u might want to see SNG cos their psle results is awesome this year. They prepared their students very well n is a sap school. Very driven school no tuition needed. Many of them are looking to rgs n nygh. I guess might have alot of places available more than ij tp.

This is what I hv understood too.
My dd2’s classmates (ie those not from IJ TP Pri) came to IJ TP for various reasons:
                      1. Their mothers were from IJ TP/ Victoria St
                      2. They are Catholics
                      3. They wanted to be with their older sisters
                      4. They thought St Nick is too Chinese and also too pressurising
                      5. They DSAed
St Nick’s is a SAP school. I am not sure about their HMT reqm. Some SAP schools have a reqm that one must get a B3 in O level MT during Sec3 in order to continue HMT.
IJ TP doesn’t hv such a reqm.

Actually I am under the impression, the more driven the school, the more tuition is required : )
Gg for tuition is not a big deal in Singapore. Even scholars go for tuition.
My children has school mates whose parents are teachers, tutors and doctorate holders, their kids go for tuition.
To know if the students for any school go for tuition is very simple. Just ask any tuition ctrs or small tuition groups, there are dedicated tuition groups created for specific schools even. More often than not, you will find these groups are from many top schools : )
p.s. SNG sec students do go for tuition. They are my daughters’ pri sch friends. I am not sure about SNG pri students though. But I do see them in uniform entering TLL.
