This is exactly what my DD told me and she insisted she is not going to take any because they are of no value! She would rather strengthen her spoken mandarin. We had a bit of argument on this topic yesterday. When she told me she will only consider Korean if it is been offered (due to Kpop or whatever), it kind of pissed me off. I am unable to force her or be able to change her mind so will just let her be.

      Your girl is right leh.
I speak Chinese in Paris. I speak Chinese in Frankfurt. Even my Swiss colleague speaks Chinese to me. So I’m not sure how French and German would be that useful.
      :rotflmao:

But most of the stuff I learnt in secondary school also of no value to me now. Especially maths and, even worse,A maths. The only maths I need now involves $¥€ or £ sign. In fact, I already returned 95% of maths and 99% of A maths back to the teacher.

At least I still can read a bit of hiragana and Katagana now.

In fact, I wonder what is the value of being 'stretched' in IP. Better let dd spend more time on HCL instead.

      😉

        Hi there,

My son got 242 in PSLE 2018. I was keeping the options as 1) St. Joseph’s Institution 2) Swiss Cottage. I see that SJI last year cut-off was 244. If I keep SJI as option 1, what is the possibility of getting SJI. If failed to get SJI, will my son automatically given Swiss Cottage as it is the 2nd option.

        Please advise.

That’s why it is so good (important) to have affliation. 250, can enter Nanyang Girls High, in turn affliated to Hwa Chong Junior College, the #2 A-level Junior College in Singapore. #1 is Raffles Institution.

There should not be any ranking of the top JCs as there is no evidence to show that one is more superior than the other. Each JC has its own merits and outstanding achievements. My 3 children had put Hwa Chong/ Nanyang as their first choice when their PSLE scores were comfortably above the cut off points of the top secondary schools. Each of them has received an excellent education and their lives have been greatly enriched. Through this long journey we had met some of the best teachers who had made such impactful influences on my children’s lives and put them on a good stead. Let each child consider his/her suitability for each school carefully and not be swayed by hearsay.

On the topic of 3rd language, several of my colleagues are learning foreign languages now liks Japanese, Korean and German.

If kids could have the opportunity to take 3rd language and they eventually take and learn, will they feel grateful for the decision made as they become working adults?

Any feedback on Zhonghua Sec (near home) vs Tanjong Katong Girl (45min travel), in terms of learning environment, teachers, students and academic aspect? TIA

Hi, Does anyone has ESIS score and thus the top x% TScore national wide? Try to gauge whether the COP for the top school will go up or down. Thanks a million!

Unless SC cut-off jump to 243 for some reason...
