I only know of 1 boy who submitted his request to see the papers during my child’s time.
The outcome of the review wasn’t positive though. (i.e he didnt get any extra marks)
Personally, i think if the results is very far off from expectation, it’s ok to make an appeal to see where went wrong and get a closure.
In the boy’s case, its the shading of the OAS in science mcq paper that went wrong.
Else, i think chances are the markers/MOE should have done their checks already, not much point asking for review… -

So far, none of the appeal cases that I’ve heard or came across got any positive outcome. If I’m not wrong, there are 3 markers and 3 checkers per paper. To get it wrong would have been monumental. By all means, do it for closure but don’t expect results to change.I only know of 1 boy who submitted his request to see the papers during my child's time.

Hi my DS has scored 258, his school has affiliation to SJI, but my son wants ACS independent (IP)as first choice & SJI (IP) as second, will be get ACS or should I switch to SJI to be safe ?, kindly advice, TIA.
Hi, For your child's marks, you can try ACS as the first choice as your son preferred. Please ensure the distance to school is manageable. All the best. -
One child I know, hv moved fr NYP to ano sch with affiliations. Bright boy but rebellious & didn’t work hard. Just 1 point short to meet affiliated sch COP. The mum said will appeal, did not see boy appear in the school at all.

My DD has 258. She wants to go RGS but RGS COP is 260. Her second choice is MGS which also has COP of 260. Our choices of 6 schools are:
1st choice: RGS
2nd MGS (IP)
3rd MGS (O level)
4th NJC
5th SCGS (IP)
6th Crescent Girls
If she cannot get into RGS or MGS (IP), she should be able to get into MGS (O level) or NJC right?
She prefers MGS but she also wants to go to an IP school, so she cannot decide which school to put as her third choice, MGS or NJC. Will putting MGS (O level) as her fourth choice reduce her chance of getting into MGS versus if she puts MGS ( O level) as her third choice?
Is there any other IP school we should consider? We are living in the central region.
Thanks for your guidance. -

TwentyFiftyTwenty, I notice the schools that you are considering are located either in the east or the west. Is the distance from your home not a concern for your sister? The school hours are very long even without taking into consideration travelling time.
Apologies for the very delayed reply. We are based on the ECP Belt, but there are chances we will move to the west to continue her education as by next year I would done with Schooling anyway, and will have started my NS, so my location would take a second seat to her education. However, this is a good point, and will certainly help us in her decisions. Is balloting still a thing with secondary schools? I recall she had to go through balloting for her primary school. -

MOE directive is quite clear: must meet COP before school will consider the appeal -

Your order seems to be fine. Getting RGS & MGS IP is tough as the cut-off is 260. You will sure get MGS O level and NJC IP. Please see which one your daughter prefers among MGS and NJC. Please mind the fees difference between MGS and NJC. All the best. -
I noticed a small discussion on 3rd Language Options. I would highly recommend Mandarin, from a student’s POV. For example, I have taken French Ab Initio (starting from basic French) for IB. However, Universities, especially American ones from what I have seen for the acceptance letters of my friends, tend to be kind of biased towards Mandarin, considering the growing Economy that is of China. French is useful for Canada and France, and thats about it. I would have taken Mandarin had my school offered it, however, I wanted a new challenge, so I took French.

Unless SC cut-off jump to 243 for some reason...
Hi, thanks for your reply. Swiss cottage last year cut-off was 239, hence I think it is possible to get. But I have a question. If some other child with marks 240 makes Swiss cottage as first option and my son's second option is Swiss cottage, who has most chance of getting it?
Yes that is how it works.zac's mum:
Hi there,
My son got 242 in PSLE 2018. I was keeping the options as 1) St. Joseph's Institution 2) Swiss Cottage. I see that SJI last year cut-off was 244. If I keep SJI as option 1, what is the possibility of getting SJI. If failed to get SJI, will my son automatically given Swiss Cottage as it is the 2nd option.
Please advise.
