i’m still confused to how the choices of school will play a part even though i understand it is merit over choices.

my previous post i mentioned DD got 183 and have only 2 school in mind where intention is if she can’t get in A will be in B. The other choices are just to fill the gap.

Does it mean that there is still a risk that she might get into her 6th choice?

      Choices - COP:
      1) A - 182
      2) B - 177
      3) C - 184
      4) D - 182
      5) E - 179
      6) F - 165

Let our children make their own choices. If not they will blame you for the next 4/6 years. I wanted HCI as it’s so much nearer to us but my DS wanted RI.

So he needs to be responsible for the choice he made. The extra travelling time to his dream school 😂

I’ve know a boy staying at Bishan travelling all the way to HCI and the boy is enjoying his school despite the travelling time too.

So funny… true, I am careful not to decide. My girls take a long time to think. So …

Cedar Girls is our first choice but she was upset and disappointed telling us the hard work she put in to PSLE to go RGS and now she cannot go . We told her about the stress etc and she says she can manage

Yes she wanted RGS but relented on NYGH after sharing with her about the Chinese culture etc..

Now we tell her we are still considering ..tough decision .

We want her to be happy for the next 6 years and not stress up

Better respect kid idea. Or she will complain you the rest of life.
Any misfortune she will say because of this

Agree. Let her decide so she won’t blame you. It is her life.

                5) E - 179
                6) F - 165
If B’s COP suddenly shoots up this year, then the computer will go down the list and allocate her the next one she qualifies for, ie there is a risk she will get #5 or 6.

If you seriously don’t like the school, then leave it out completely.

I think as parents, you can lay out the pros and cons objectively and let her decide. Do tell her that she may not be in the same class as her friends even if she goes to RGS and will be making new friends. At this age, they can still be quite immature and be swayed by things like friends, uniform, etc.

She's the one who's going to be in the school for the next 6 years. If she's done her research and really wants to go, let her decide. Allow her to take ownership of her decision. There will be stress in all schools. But going in with an open and positive mind will help her overcome any obstacles.

I’m a bit confused by the relevance of order of your choices. Someone earlier today appeared to assert that order is not important - and that the first school for which your child qualifies (i.e. the one with the highest COP) will be selected for your child. Really? I want to select as No. 1 choice a school with COP of 245, and No. 2 choice with COP of 250. Assuming my child has more than 250, will the system give me the No. 1 choice? Thanks.

omg, okay then we better do something about it.

                        Thanks!!!!
