Hi just want to ask if it is single session in RI?

Yes, it is single session in RI. I think all secondary schools are in single session.

Can I find out from anyone whose ds are in the MEP if the lessons are incorporated into the normal curriculum time or conducted after school hours? Are both courses on the same day? Need to know urgently cos not sure if my ds can still opt for a third language if he is hoping to join MEP too. Thank you.

Both mep and third lanuguage are after school hours. Normally different day, but you can't take both, must choose only one. It's elective programme, one student can only choose one elective in aep/mep/rsp/msp/cep/3rd language.

Thanks for the reply. Son is keen on both. I will check directly with the school.

          Hi,

I like to find out more about the subject combination selection in year 2 & JC1, and the sports CCAs.

          (1) In year 2 and JC1, are the students allowed to choose any subject combinations or there are pre-determined ones? What are the subject combinations for year 2 and JC1?

          (2) In year 3, how many students can take triple Science (Pure Bio + Chem + Physics)?

          (3) RI offers only Pure Science?

          (4) In JC1, triple science or double maths double maths is not offered?

          (5) For sports CCA, can anyone join or only those in the school team can join?

          Thank you!
DS is in JC1 this year so let me try answering your questions.

          (1) Year 1 and Year 2 subjects are pre-determined. You can’t choose. For JC1, RI will accommodate any subject combination as long as it fulfills MOE requirements i.e. must have contrasting subject.

          (2) Any students who want to take Triple Science will be able to do so as long as he meets the GPA requirement. RI does not limit the number of students who want to take Triple Science.

          (3) Yes. Only Pure Science.

          (4) Triple Science in JC1 is no longer allowed in Singapore. This is per MOE direction. But I think maybe NUSH is the only school that is exempted from this MOE direction? I am not sure about double Maths though.

          (5) Yes. Anybody can join any sports CCA as long as he passes the trials.

            hi

My nephew scored 259. He's hoping to enter Ri. He didnt manage to attend the open house or the Information day. Are his chances ok? Are the boys usually of higher scores? My sis worries that he wont be able to cope. thanks.

To add on to what dunma shared, for those of us who prefer the assurance of quantifiable numbers, RI's COP and mean score were 257 and 263 respectively last yr. Assuming things remain constant this yr, your nephew's T-score is just 4 pts off the mean. In the grand scheme of things, that is really insignificant.

Btw you can find RI's admission details in the MOE website below (use the 'View School Details' option at the bottom right-hand corner to search).

            https://sis.moe.gov.sg/

            :thankyou:
            Especially for the link

Know of a boy taking MEP and 3rd lang in year 1. Not sure if u can take both in year 2 though. Because that boy dropped his 3rd lang and cont with MEP in year 2. Forgot what was the reasons.

For A levels, students can take a max. of 2 sciences (and 1 Maths) as they need to take a contrasting subject (eg. a humanities subject, Econs, KI, 3rd lang, etc). Chemistry is the de facto \"compulsory\" science as it is required by quite a no. of medical/biomed/engineering courses in university. Students can take either Bio or Physics as the 2nd science.

Further Maths has been reintroduced, so a double Maths combination is available now. The usual combination for double Maths is with 1 science and 1 contrasting subject.
