I suspect some of the scores input here are for the fun of it …it is not genuinely sharing the true scores …

Yes, except you have to remember the affiliation bit. So if intake is say 300, and say 55 come from NYPS and make the grade and another 60 are offered DSA spots, then based on a COP of 264 and median of 268, it would mean that 300 - 55-60=185/2 --> the 93rd girl to qualify had a T score of 268. 92 girls scored between 264 and 268, and 92 other girls scored between 268 and 285.

Quick statistics lesson:
MEAN is the average. So the scores of all the students who were accepted into the school divided by the number of students
MODE is the number that has the most repeats. With the T-score this is not really relevant as there are invisible decimal places that make the numbers more unique and even if there is a score with the most repeats it doesn't really signify anything in this case
MEDIAN is the middle value, i.e. if you line up all the students who got in according to their T scores, the student who is right in the middle of this lineup is the one with the median score.
BTW, last year highest score in my son's school (and I suspect in Singapore) was a girl who got 29something (?) +3. He's very sure. DSA-ed so not in the stats. -

My daughter told me last year top scorer was a boy (not girl). Went RI thru DSA.

Why not? 280 is only 2 standard deviations away per subject leh. Statistically speaking, somebody should get 29something....
