Everytime we ask him how's he coping, he wld say ok lor. Heard from him last week MA test is not easy but he expects himself to do ok like in 80%. Today is LA and French test. Next week Sc test. Now every week has a test?Jennifer:

It also appears that quite a number of the kids have tuition for Chinese, Math, and even science ... I wonder what type of lesson structure though. Bc they seem to go to tuition centers and not have private tutors. My son has no tuition except for Chinese.
My boy also only CL tuition. Dun know if he knows who has tuition in other subjects.
He did feedback that EL is getting more difficult this term. Guess poetry is a relatively new topic plus requires a lot of analysis. Not sth the kids hv exposure in the past. Btw he did not do well in the first poem recital- teacher's comment was : not enough emotion in delivery.
i keep my ears/eyes very open and know that some of the kids have tuition for math - even those in the accelerated classes. makes me wonder if i should be so ks to have my boy have math tuition too, but during term time, he's way too busy.[/quote]Right! It has been busy weeks for the kids as there are few group projects to complete concurrently as well as subjects test. My dd has been sleeping late and attending group work over weekends.
Heard from dd her teacher mentioned that today's LA test will be tough. For MA test she did not have enough time to complete the paper. Hope for the best

The way i see them doing projects.... so very amusing. They converse by msn/messenger, and then prepare different parts of the document on their own, and then share the document via email for other members of the group to edit, and then print out, then they quickly *chiong* to put it together in school the next day. :roll:

My boy's group chose to stay back in school to complete the project, so no need to meet on Sat. There was only 1 Sat meeting at Bras Basah lib for the Qing history project.
My boy's teacher said their presentation on Qing history was ok, but a group from another class was even better becos they offered 3 free gifts - a bookmark, a CD and sth else. Siao ah, history presentation now must give free gifts??? I thought content is more impt.
Somehow I do not like this history teacher. Just take the 1st project (your parents' sec sch days) for example. The more pics the project has, the higher marks it gets? No doubt most families have a multi-function printer that can scan, what abt those who do not hv a scanner? No pics-> lower marks? -

So far, my boy has been in charge of putting up the projects on powerpoint.
I don't know if this is sth to do with personality. When I was a student, I also like to be in charge of the final pdt. Not enough confidence in my team mates (after I was played out by someone who finished the group work in a sloppy way). I see this trait in my boy now. -

I did contemplate to send my boy for Math Olympiad training, but hubby said let's not load him unnecessarily. So now he only goes for his badminton training on Sun.
I also cant tahan spending extra time on the weekends just on sending the kids here and there. Sat CL tuition and Sun badminton are enough. -

Yes yes... good to hear from parents again. My girl did not finish MA paper too ... i was also surprised when she told me that they need to prepare gifts for their history presentation. Think her group got a bit 'carried away' - they spent quite a bit of time and $ just to get the gifts in order to score pointJust Mama:
