Dear, you are right. In fact the human factors playing a very big part of the COP, Demand and Supply Game etc
Not that I don't want to do, but I like said, for fun, ok lah. The whole thing was meant as an 'experiment' to show (as well as convince myself) that using ESIS as an estimation for COP is not very useful or helpful (not that we didn't know about thatvectorbiz:
Dear Floppy:
Mind to do one for RV ? DD just meet the COP of 250. :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: x 100000000
)
Now, just relax, and wait for posting results ok

Dear Floppy
Your analysis is spot on!
But for some schools the delta of COP from ESIS seems strongly co-related. Examples being ACS(I) IB , SJI IB and Catholic High IP. Atleast for the previous 3 years, you could have predicted their COP once ESIS was known -
Most parents are seeking views and searching for better ways, dun hv to be headaches. Like life, is all about choices, unless you are saying that there are shortage of places in the region our kids are living in.
From the first 2 original posts of lc n xxxppy, just thought that it is not correct to say the MOE is not thinking right when the changes are meant to reduce stress. Changes is necessary to progress as a society.
Btw, i m not from moe or related, i am a mum who know of another mum who just lost her dd 2 months ago, to unhealthy stress.laughingcat:
pls lah. Parent stress on the secondary school selection is not self induced. Look at the forum, parents are equally headache over the selection of secondary school. The use of PSLE is a ticket to the choice secondary school. Even the thought of wanting to go next door secondary school is already a fear for parents.6thisnthat9:
Parents stress is self induced lah

:thankyou: That's very helpful! My relative's kid has zero tuition and scored 1 borderline A/B, 2 low As, 1 A* & HCL=D in the recent P5 exams. Hopefully their kid can fall within the 30% criteria or consider DSA (CL) to an OP school, as her grades fluctuate quite drastically...
I believe the Chinese (Special Programme) is similar to the MSP (Malay Special Programme) which is a meant to be a third language for students. There is a 2 pts bonus if they do pass the subject at 'O' level when applying to JC/MI.

Nice graphs, floppy! Can generate a few more to cover all the IP schools?

That may translate into PSLE T-score of 260.

Yeah, like pendulum! That's why refused to drop her best leverage - HCL, despite all the words of conventional wisdom offered to the parents..zeit:

Changes is necessary to progress as a society.
I agree but if the changes will cause more stress then what for?
For example, last time we made a decision that DS should drop HCL and “sacrifice” CL in order to have more time to spend on other subjects. Chinese was his weakest subject. If DS is under new AL system, we can’t afford to do that if he still wants to go to his dream school. This will cause us much more stress because we need to make sure that his CL and HCL will not drag the whole score up. So it will be more tuition, more practice papers, closer monitoring, etc. -
No one is saying "NO" to changes. I am sure all welcome changes if the change is for the better. Now with the new banding, to me is seems to be a hotchpotch of "better" and "less stress" ideas. Perhaps wait for the coming years to see a better explanation to the new system.
I am all too excited to see what will be the COP stated in the 2021 PSLE booklet.
