I add the oats to acai. Since I blend a banana and berries/vegetables with the acai, it will be already quite flavourful. Coupled with chocolate chips/pearls, seeds, nuts, dried fruits, etc, it is actually quite nice and filling.
Most of my friends have been eating oats for years for weight management - most of us are back to pre-pregnancy size by the time we go back to work. -

Which online stores do you use? Cheaper than Phoon Huat? That's where I buy nuts and seeds. -

I've tried overnight oats too. I'm not totally sold on them either. It's not as mushy as cooked oatmeal, but still too mushy for my taste. I usually have to add toasted nuts or apple cubes for more crunch.I love overnight oats too! I read this tip online where we can use it to “finish up” leftover Nutella, peanut butter, kaya...whatever jam that usually comes in a glass jar. There’s always some leftover stuck to the glass, right?
Just add the dry rolled oats, milk, plus whatever dried berries or nuts u wish, then let it soak overnight in the fridge. Next morning, the oats would have absorbed the milk. Stir it around to mix properly, then top up with a bit more milk and voila! Nice chilled and healthy brekkie :boogie: -

cant really remember those prices at phoonhuat now..but the first batch (at least) from online are cheaper say for cranberries and maybe the sunflower seeds too..issue is I noticed that the online site that I m getting most from is upping the price esp the almond and also the Q0010 coupons is not as good now as in used to discount on b4 store discounted price for eg....it used to be so good (anyway I just using one online site so cant compare) last time esp when buy those nuts and also Kinohimitsu products..I will pm you the store detail if you need ..you let me know yeah. Trial and error..I remembered checking for cashew nuts from Long Ma and realised I paid more online..so need a bit of hw done to get 'cheapest'MrsKiasu:

I buy raw cashews and almonds, activate them and roast them again.
Am not able to make honey walnut well so still buying them from Cold Storage. -
from Green Earth Organics and The nutswarehouse, sometimes laobanniang..the 3rd one usually more ex I find..The 1st one is good for cranberries..I bought 9kgs of cashew nuts from no.2 recently as was on sale. Bought the rest from no.1 multiple times. The most I do is air fry the nuts. Usually eat raw nuts. After air fry, can get more satisfaction in eating though

btw, coolkidsrock2, how to activate? what is the purpose? -

Thanks for the interesting recipe. But doesn’t that defeat the purpose of healthy eating when we add sugar, syrup, sweetened granola etc etc...
I usually cook oatmeal with milk, cinnamon and brown sugar. Then I put sliced banana when serving. So yummy... You can try...lee_yl:
But.... Oatmeal is not nice...
And I don’t feel satisfaction eating oatmeal.
Whenever I take Quaker’s instant oak (red packaging) for bfast, my heart tends to beat very fast and I get hungry before noon.
For the quick cook Quaker (blue packing), I don’t get side effects and it seems more filling! But I lazy to cook.
When the small pot of water boils, I feel like putting in a packet of instant noodles instead of oatmeal.
I used to add a teaspoon of condensed milk to the oatmeal to sweeten it and make it creamy but DH said that defeated the purpose of eating oatmeal. Sometimes, I add a packet of 3-in-1 cereal into my oatmeal to make it more tasty. -

Cinnamon only has a few calories and not sweet. Maybe if you want, you can eliminate the brown sugar. So just obtain the sweetness from banana (actually fresh milk naturally has sugar too so it will add taste to the oatmeal). -

I think it depends on how much you add and how careful you need to be? Unless you have some chronic illness that requires drastic diet watching, I don't see why we can't use some sugar, fat etc. I don't think \"healthy\" food necessarily needs to be very low-sugar, low-fat etc; we just want to limit consumption to an amount that is not unhealthy. A little taste to make healthy stuff palatable is OK, I feel. And doing it yourself means that you have more control of the amount. Thanks for the interesting recipe.
