Hi, my boy will be starting his P1 next year in ATS and would like to find out if Pro-Teach is generally ok in terms of taking care of the children, providing guidance etc?

Went to register recently and saw a Pro-Teach staff shouting fiercely at the children.
      Thanks.

May I ask how’s the culture in Ai Tong?

          1. Is it stressful?
          2. Have remedial?
          3. A lot of homework?
          4. Competitive?
          5. Are the teacher nurturing?

          Thanks

            1. P1 - P3 no stress - kids have a happy lower primary school time , once the kids are banded at P4 the stress starts (for both parents and kids), this is increased in P5 and P6 when the kids are shuffled again

            2. Remedial and supp lessons start at P6 (final push for psle)
            3. Homework load starts at P4, lower primary is little or non at all.
4.ATS is competitive - but a little competition is good for everyone
            5. Nurturing teachers are only found in MOE adverts (haha), teachers at Ai Tong work very hard and have many students to care for.
            6. All kids take higher chinese till they can drop it at P5 if grades not up to mark, not all can cope with it so something to consider

anyone knows any private schoolbus/private carpool other then the one contracted to the school?

The schoolbus quoted a pickup time of 6.15am from Bishan St 13 to Ai Tong. It far too early.

anyone has contact please PM me.
              Thanks!

                Try S-B-S-4-1-0-G or S-B-S-4-1-0-W.

6.45am pick up. $22.50 per month (can take bus song-song till Jurong).

Hi, we are currently 1km from Ats but will need to go through the balloting phase within 1km. My husband is a alumni at St hildas…and my son is a more jiak kantang boy, speaks more eng and all. Would like to ask your views if you were us, would you just go for st hildas and travel to and fro for 6 yrs (I will be driving but still…) or take the chance for ats? I could do volunteering as well so possibly be able to ballot at the phase before 1km as well…will you guys take the chance or go for st hildas…?

When you say “could do volunteering” I assume it means you have yet to be accepted into SHHK. Please check whether you can meet the minimum criteria (2 years membership, 80 hrs) as that may not be an option for you.

If your kid is less than 5yo, I don’t think you would know whether he is a potato or otherwise. In any case, there are many ways and opportunities to encourage or introduce him to Chinese if you want to do so.

Both schools are good schools. However, you risk losing it all if you place your bets with ATS because the chances are low. It could be as high as 3 applicants for 1 place in ATS. You may want to go with SHPS in Phase 2A first and wait till the last day of Phase 2C before deciding whether it’s worthwhile to jump ship. IMHO, unless you are comfortable with GYPS or some other schools as your backup in Phase 2Cs, it's better that you stick with what you have.
