Pardon my blurness, but how many CCA are the student required to take? What is e diff between core n merit? I m still blur!

Every student takes at least one CCA, his core CCA. Some people, in addition to the one core CCA, also take one or more merit CCAs. Very few people take two core CCAs, both of which are usually sports.

Core CCA is either a Sport, Performing Arts Group, Unifomed Group or the Raffles Debaters. Merit CCA is any other CCA. The only substantial difference lies in the compulsory nature of core CCA, but there are other differences not in the substance like nature of activities, level of commitment, protected training times etc.

        Hi ,

Found this old old post from this forum, I am wondering if it is still applicable, with regards to CCA in RI? On top of that, there are those who DSA via sports, performing arts, does it means that those who are not up to standard are unable to join those CCA?

        Thanks

          Hi,

gakusei's posting still correct. For those who dsa, they are automatically in the cca they dsa-ed for, no auditions required. Not sure if I read wrongly, but anyone who is not up to standard wouldn't have been dsa-ed right? if you are referring to general populace, all will have a shot at what they like but ultimately the cca will only take in what they like.

Assembly at 7.30am every morning, you are expected to be at school by 7.25am.
Dismissal time is different everyday every student due to enrichment and cca, as early as 12.30pm, as late as 7pm

Just wondering why there’s nothing put up on the RI website on the S1 reporting to school on 20 Dec. Like where to go, what we will be expecting on that day, purchase of uniform and books etc.

If u could, buy the uniforms today or tomorrow at their bookshop, open till 3pm, super long q on 20dec.. then you can hv all the time to let your boy try.

The books even though it was long q, but they sell in ready box...so was manageable. That time bookshop did not hv sec1 booklist, so I couldn't buy earlier.

Not sure if the bookshop is opened tomorrow as they may be busy preparing for the Year 1 intake. It is better to check with them @ 6354 2871.
