Hi Tankee, no need, they will seperate the swimmers and non swimmers...non swimmers they will teach swimming, for swimmers they will try to improve their strokes. My girl's only complain is that swimming so early in morning so cold but otherwise it's great according to her.

Hi. I am thinking of enrolling my son into Tao Nan this year. I have heard from some people that Tao Nan conducts a test for all new students during the first month, so that they can sort out the students into classes based on how well they perform for the test. Is this true? I find this extremely scary and feel that it is not right to stream students at such a young age.

absolutely nonsense.

Do they rank the children according to their grades and place them in classes according to their grades? If they do, when does this occur?
Also, have heard stories of schools where the best kids are placed in the best two or three classes, the best teachers are made to teach the best classes, extra classes are conducted for those in the best classes and parents of children not in the best classes are asked to engage their own private tutors for their kids. Is this true also of Tao Nan? -
Streaming will take place after pri two in the past.Best kids are split into top two classes in tns tho its not official.
Not true that best teachers are in the best class.
Not true that not so good classes are told to engage their own tutors.Infact, top class most kids have their own tutors as parents are very anxious.
Hope this helps.jellybelly:

Thanks very much, Joy!
I’m really relieved to hear that… I’ve been hearing so many horror stories about the schooling system these days… So different from what I went through in primary school… Back then in my primary school, only the weakest students had remedial lessons… was the same in my secondary school…
the other question I have is with regard to the before and after school care service at TNS… does anyone have any information on the programme they run there, their operating hours and their charges?
Thanks very much in advance! -
Does anyone have any idea how’s the P6 Prelim compared to PSLE ? Is it more difficult as indicated by ex-principal who commented that students should add another 10 pts to their Prelim T-score to estimate the PSLE results ?

I'm a parent volunteer at Tao Nan, and to my knowledge, after- and before-school care at TNS is not chargeable. However, not all children can opt for it. Rather, pupils are selected by teachers and usually these are kids who need some supervision to complete their homework.
