LeeLee2018:
The school will share promotion criteria, including requirements to be considered for IP. Apart from marks (which are same as IP promotion criteria so quite achievable), the boys will also have to have completed a number of projects. All students will have an equal opportunity to sign up for these in the course of the school year. All the best! Enjoy the extra week off!calm:
Son just got psle result and eligible for SJI o level programme. Can anyone advice if it is possible to switch to SJI IP programme after sec 1 or sec 2? If so, what types of grades must he achieved ? Thanks
I know it happens in Sec 3, not too sure if sec 3 can or not. We transferred school due to CCA and new housing reasons. -

I have not been here for a long while ! :imcool: Yesterday, my son received his IB result and this forum came to mind as I reflected upon his 6 years in SJI. My son is the first batch of SJI IP intake from S1 (via PSLE result). He is stronger in Maths & Science and average in languages. It was not an easy decision as I have many friends asking me : IB needs very good English ? Are you going to let him take iOlevels as backup ?
Now 6 years on, SJI was the right school for him. My son had 6 wonderful years in SJI, ups and downs included. He made some good friends and we are thankfully he is one of the 67% who attained >40points.

No school is perfect but we are impressed about the school leadership team's approach to always care for the whole development of the child and strive to help each child achieve his potential. There are a few good teachers who really stood out as being passionate about their job, the school, and their students.
I personally think this is a value-added school as it took in students with Tscore of 25X and growing them to achieve comparable IB results.
Wishing all of you a pleasant journey too, with SJI ! -
Congratulations!!! Wow 1st through train batch.
Would really appreciate it if u can share where this batch of IB students will get into i.e. uni, course & ib score later. -
You will not find any public information of IB score of students accepted into which Uni course. It varies from year to year depending on the pool of applicants. (much like our secondary school COP).
Me too worried about this for many years…till before/at the start of Senior School Year 1 (ie. IP year 5). The school had a briefing for parents to explain the deadlines and steps. They have a dedicate staff team taking care of career counselling and university applications. This team gave handouts of the statistics they accumulated from previous SJI graduates…eg. which uni, which course, which are mandatory subjects, approx IB score accepted etc. This helped my son finalised his choice of 6 IB subjects. In the final year, the school also held briefing and workshops to help those students who intend to apply to USA or UK universities ie. what to do, what to prepare etc etc. All students are offered this help (and not just selected groups).
In short, don’t worry, the school will provide the information to you and your child when the time comes. -
Thanks Pixiedust for sharing !

Hi, am new to this thread. Does anyone have a Sec 3 or 4 boy in SJI IB? Would like to hear whether you have any recommendation for tuition/enrichment class in English? My son's English is a bit weak. Would like to put him in some tuition or enrichment. Most tuition centres only cater to O level or ACSI IB students. I can't find any who teaches IB for SJI. Hope to hear from anyone. Tks!
It is always not easy to find a centre that teach IB subjects. Anyway my child is in Year 4 & this year should be crucial in which promotion criteria are quite high to go up Year 5. -
Sounds lonely. Isnt IB English same for all IB schools? Just curious why tuition centres need to differentiate school?
Yr 4 promo is different & harder than previous years?
This IB international results released recently. Is it they sit a final year exam like A level or it’s a cumulative assessment as in school results tdy? -
Don’t have a son in SJI IB but what is "English" in IB? Isn’t it the Group 1 subject - Lit?
-
Yes Group 1. SJI subject is call English but should be more suitable to be called Literature. All written analytical in nature w project works.
