      zac's mum:
U have to go look under the balloting history of your target school(s). See which distance category they usually have balloting. Otherwise all your hard work and sacrifices under several years of grassroots work will come to nought.

If the school(s) takes in school PVs, and/or they accept church members under phase 2B, then lagi forget about it cos u will be competing with them.

Don’t forget >2km is the absolute last distance bucket and will always lose out. Unless u are targeting BTPS then maybe phase 2B will guarantee even PRs >2km a place.
      that's a personal choice
some are risk takers while others are more risk adverse

      some schools are kinder.
      2B has 20 places,
they will take in 15 PV at most.

some schools are a little werid.
      2B has 20 places,
they will take in 20 PV (even when there are tons of GRL \"lurking\" in the shadows)

some schools does not take PV directly.
PV are centralized and duties not school specific.
after 2A2, when the no. of 2B is known, then the number of 2B letters issued to the qualifying parents are known.
      eg: 2B has 40 places
      org will issue 38 letters.

Hi all seniors, can I ask if the school is within the GRC I m serving in BUT it’s MORE than 2km away, does the Phase 2b still apply? e.g. residence in Bukit Panjang, interested school in Bukit Timah.

        bro
if you could spell out the specifics
        then we can advise

eg: which NC/RC (falls within which grc)
        more than 2 years?

        which sch you are aiming
say its its nyps, acs, st nicks, rosyth, TNS, and etc.....
2b is CONFIRM balloting within 1km

other schs, 2B may just work like magic

then theres the botherline schs which one may wanna risk.

Hi, actually I m serving at one of Bukit Panjang RC within HBT GRC. Should be able to accumulate the required no. of years by the time my child is to enrol for P1. We are keen to enrol him with PeiHwa but we are out of 2km. Not sure if we should even consider this option.

            My conclusion:
balloting for more than 2KM is common for pei hwa thus 2B letter is not a bao jiak.
            have a plan B ready.
            (like RGPS or BTPS)

            EDIT:
bro, your address is near your RC right?

Yes, phase 2B still apply. You can apply for any primary school in the GRC you serve.

However, if there’s any balloting in phase 2B, then distance between the school and your address (more than 2km) will come into play.

you sure a not?[/quote]If your home address is under Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, then you can apply for any school within Holland-Bukit Timah GRC. However, if you are under HBT but decide to cross over to AMK to help out at Teck Ghee, then of cos you won’t be eligible to apply under phase 2B at PM Lee’s ward.

I used to work as a volunteer in AMK for the Meet-The-People Sessions for years but I reside in Novena, thus, I can only apply schools under Tanjong Pagar GRC (back then).

Balloting at 2B for SCs >2km in every recent year. Past 2 years even reduced their intake to 270 due to going single session. Ask yourself is it worth all that trouble just for a famous SAP school. Don’t forget it’s also famous for high workload especially your kid’s Chinese must be very high standard. Be prepared to coach personally or cough up $$ for tuition from kindergarten to P6.

So, let’s say if did not get thru the Phase2B at PeiHwa, then how? Wait till Phase 3 and 3(S) complete then approach an alternative school?

                        Say 2b balloting then fail.
Then apply phase 2c as a public for schools within your 1km. Peihwa sure ballot within 1km for phase 2c.

Actually, my intention for plan b is, to execute during phase 2b.
                        There’s 2 days for phase 2b.
U can apply during day 1.
By end of day, you will have the numbers from moe (or even the distance breakdown from the school directly - please take leave and station at the school to monitor the real time info)

Then on day 2, you can decide if you want to hold and ballot.
Or withdraw and apply Bukit Timah pri sch without balloting.

                        My 2 cents.
