Thank you so much for the prompt reply!

For the case of 2B, i am looking at st nicholas but it doesn’t seem to update the stats to reflect on the system in 2018?

From what i can see, 2016 and 2017 st Nic 2B seems achievable. In which, from the stats it seems like as long as u PV, religion and 1km then all the applicants seems to be able to enter? Then as long as I can do the above it seems like I have a fair chance?

Is it possible to go and secure 2A as alumni and then go for st nic 2b day and see if i can put her in? Does any parent do that? Cos i understand its different days.

PV / religious connection - just one will do. No added bonus if you have PV + affiliated religion.

While it’s true that in some years, Phase 2B < 1km got into SNGS without a ballot, in other years, a ballot is required. Once you opt to apply in Phase 2B, you will have to give up your place in Phase 2A and if you fail in the ballot, you will have to look for another school or try your luck at balloting again in Phase 2C

          Hello,

I would like to ask a question. My Son will be registering for P1 this year. However, we bought a property and will likely move in second half of this year. Can we use our current address to register for his primary school and move in to our new home after?
          Thanks in advance!

Believe that the current rules require you to stay at the address you use for registering for the next 30 months. Why not use the new address to register? It may not be on IC but you will have the Sales & Purchase agreement to back you up.

              Yes, provided:
There’s no balloting in the school you have applied for, and if there’s balloting, the distance for your new property is within the same distance priority (or better than the current one).

Otherwise, you may lose your place.

Sorry I don’t really understand what you meant by - if there is balloting, the distance for my new property is within same distance priority . Can you explain? Thanks in advance! 🙂

How far is your current property to the school? < 1km, 1-2km, > 2km?

My current property is <1km to the school. My new property will be >2km to the school. The school is st Anthony primary school. I think balloting is high ? Thanks so much for replying ! 🙂

The moe website states that “a child who gains priority admission into a school through his/her distance category is required to reside at the address used for registration for at least 30 months from the commencement of the primary one registration exercise. A bit confusing …

St Anthony’s Primary some years need balloting for 1-2km, some years need balloting for <1km.

The way I interpret the MOE rule, if your child gains priority admission into SAPS through <1km, regardless any balloting or not, then you are obliged by law to stay at that same address <1km (or another address also <1km) for 30 months.

If you think about it, this is a fair requirement, because if you move to >2km before the 30 months is up, then you have abused your distance priority and may have caused other people to miss out on that seat during registration.
