      hquek,

Ex-Singapore/HKG/TW doesn’t mean the maid is THAT experienced.
Every family is different and job scope is diff. If work for ang-moh, style of housework and cooking lagi more diff. So what reason do these maids insist on high pay ? Their agent helps them fight for increment as well.
My Indon maid worked for me and learnt to cook chicken rice…now showing off her cooking in HKG !!!

Hi janet_lee88, i remembered 3 years ago, we had our first Indon maid..She was really trained by my mum and knows how to cook very well and also looking after my DD..When she just started with us, she knows only little english but she speaks better and better each day...She even know a little about mandarin! After finishing her 1st contract, she wanted to go back and get married and so we let her go....We went back to the same agent to arrange the airtickets and documents etc...U know what, the manager was chit chatting to her in our presence and even pass her his namecard...telling her to call him if she wanna come out and work again...He even told her she can get a much higher salary....

exactly my point! But there seems to be some cachet attached to it mah - like badge of honour.

So far, the 2 maids I took were ex-Jakarta - so some city experience but not jaded.

I think I got very fierce face, so they have never dared to tell me they deserve more money. πŸ˜›

You should have said very loudly that these agents are blood suckers. If she intends to come back and work, should just try to find employers directly. hmmm, smash his ricebowl. πŸ˜›

I always tell my maids. Please work hard now, suffer the separation a bit. When you go back home, esp to get married, DON'T come back to work. Else hubby may run away or feed other women with your hard-earned money.

Yah..we did tell her not to come back and work if she is getting married..there are many similar cases of what u mentioned.. I think when my fili maid finished her contract, we will just get back an Indon maid...I dont mind her not able to speak good english since I am going to be a SAHM....I just need her to do housework and cooking...As for my DD, I will handle her all by myself....At least this way, she will be trained to be independent and not shouting for \"Aunty\" everytime!!...Its sad to also see kids these days relying so much on maid and getting the \"aunty\" to do even the slightest thing like asking for tissue paper! This is what my DD is doing...and I did tell her she will not have such luxury anymore when I am at home...She better learn to do her own things![/quote]

Hi shine_fs, not only that agent was not professional...There are many out there too...We remembered after the maid left, we actually got a fili maid from the same agent and she quit after 2 months..Very bad homesick and so her hubby paid the outstanding amt to the agent so that she could return home...This one is find except she cannot pass the separation period with her family..She did apologise to us and she still text me once in a while...The next one came and omg, she could not even speak proper english although she is a filipino...We found her another employer who don't mind her poor english after 6 mths of tolerence....We got fed up with the agent and I asked them to help me to look for someone who can speak english..You know what, another lady manager called her agent in the Philippines to faxed over bio-data for maid with good english...I was at the agent waiting for the bio-data and immediately we called the maid...However I almost fainted cos this one was not able to understand and speak proper english too...I guess they don't care so much and will \"sell\" whatever they have on hand.....that is where we walked out of the agent and not wanting anymore of their replacement....

hee hee....I still remain in shock how much maids have to pay to come out to work. Those pp (whether in home country or here) really suck blood.

I agreed with you. Finding a good maid agent also by luck.....

                        A story to share....

Last week, my mum's maid received a call from her hometown. Her aunty was on the line telling her that her mother is sick. Asking her to go back.

So, my mum pity her and send her back this Monday. She told us she want to come back once settle her mother and will call us and confirmed within 3 to 7 days time. Yesterday, she called told us that her mother need more time to recover hence she is not coming back to Singapore.

My maid was crying and confessed to my mum that actually the mother is not sick. She(my mum's maid) is planing to go home to rest and sleep, she is tired of working and not coming back to my mum house to work.

After hearing of what my maid said....my parents were shocked cos the called from her aunty was plotted. She really a good actress. She can cried after answering the call :salute:

May be some of you will says my mum is too innocent believe her words.
But out of sympathyof her mother's sickness who will not εΏƒθ»Ÿγ€‚γ€‚γ€‚

Btw, she worked for a year.
