Scholarships are not just determined by grades. Certainly this girl's results are very good (I don't know her standing in the cohort, but should be fairly high!), and will stand her in good stead in applying for scholarships. However, interviews, CCA, interest in the organisation she applies to, etc. will also count in whether she gets a scholarship or not. Some students with similar good results are not offered a scholarship, and others with poorer results do get scholarships. Still, she should definitely try if she wants one.

Yup, the rules of scholarships have changed. In the past, this is nearly bao jiak for scholarship but today, grades only form part of the assessment (and not nearly as important as the other attributes). I would assume she has plenty of outstanding CCA achievements as well, and / or done some voluntary and community services.

It also depends on the scholarship the girl is applying for. If it’s a prestigious scholarship, she’ll be competing against students with straight As inclusive of H3 as well. These students are likely to have strong CCA and other accolades as well. For the less competitive scholarships there’s a good chance, depending on interviews etc.

The scholarships of today are really very different genre & grades are not the only thing sort after organizations will look at. Many uses Profiling tools to fit these potentials into their current team and they’ll look at aptitudes, ability to be creative & think out of the box, and yes, they’ll be assessing personality too.

I used a number of scientific Profiling tools in assessing scholars & key personnel when hiring in the past for top organizations in oil & gas, local conglomerates, as well as for scientists we were hiring fr local as well as candidates all over the world. These are 99% accurate tools (in whatever ways the candidate might attempt to skew the results).

Our edn system hv also gone further to incl project work which requires one to work with teams & acquire people skills. I rmbr pleasant days working with scholars who were sportsmen & those who hv gone on Rhodes scholarships. They’re real go-getters & problem solvers. What my boss term as staff who wld not just being problems they encounter at work but also offer multi-faceted solutions to the organizations.

So, it’s good our Spore edn System have been balancing academics with CCAs and those candidates who wld excel will be more all-rounders, unlike my first few organizations (many years back) during those times scholars were more ‘newdy’ or route type. And later years, I had the weird experience of working with a govt sector (scholar) who cld crunch numbers but will not hv eye-contact with anyone but top-down leader of his time. We had a real hard time working with him. :slapshead: Any orgn who still hire based on academic will hv organizations that cannot manage today’s Z generation staff-force & the wider population. JMO

I want to applaud RI/RIJC for, once again, encouraging rafflesians to realise their academic potential to the maximum allowed by MOE, ie 13 units.
6 pupils scored the maximum 9As.

Do you know this year in total how many students achieved 9 As?

I found out from someone tt HCI has one pupil with 9As.

Why isn’t TJC in the IPJC table? According to Reddit (someone posted a link here), its Mean UAS is 80 for JAE and 83 for IP. Why does TJC want to split the Means?
