Those who hv good results fr ACS Barker after Sec 1, will get a chance to transfer to ACSI Express stream including those who apply fr other sec schools. Many cases last 2 years alr. However, there’s no switch in Yr 2 to IP fr Express in Yr 2.
If the child achieved good results overall at Yr 2, ACSI will offer deserving students a chance to do IP/IB fr Yr 3. At Year 3, those who did not do well consistently in IP Yr 1&2 IP will go to Express stream, based on Yr 2 overall assessment (step down as not all students are suited to IP).
After Year 4, ano round of major assessment - for those keen to earn IB Diploma. You’ll see MGS girls given opportunity, including all other sec sch students. Yr 5 is the year the sch will see female students fr Crescent, SCGS, etc. Year 5 is also the year many will try DSA into Yr 5 IB (guys & gals).
The sch hv a very collaborative & warm family environment. Some students are encouraged to form study & prayer groups, to support each other & those under stress given extra coaching for weak subjects. There’s a PSG father volunteer, semi-retired psychiatrist, who provides sch support esp to manage students under all types of stresses. But not sure how long he’ll continue as both his boys alr in uni.
ACSI students are provided with immense support to prepare for the IB Diploma.
Hope abv helps you ustand a little bit more sch culture too.

the IP track is onto acjc right?[/quote]No, IP track will continue in ACSI for year 5 & 6.
ACJC is not an IP JC, it admits students through JAE. -

Small elaboration, just in case:
ACJC is not an IP JC, it admits students through JAE.
ACS(I) IP is Year 1-4 then 5-6 terminating in IB Diploma for those last two years.
ACS(I) O-level/Express is Year 1-4 terminating in O-levels after which JAE to any school you can enter
— this includes both ACS(I) IB and ACJC, but there are no bonus points for applying to ACS(I) IB.
ACJC is only JC1/JC2 terminating in A-levels.

Dear all,
Do keep a look out for mental health of the youths in our schools. Hoping to bring more awareness to all parents.
As quoted in the Straits Times Article by Cheow Sue Ann on April 12 ,
\"School stress became a hot topic of online discussion recently after someone who identified herself as a 17-year-old International Baccalaureate student in a top school here wrote about her admission to IMH for suicide attempts and a history of depressive episodes.
In her online post, she wrote about facing immense pressure to do well in school and claimed her brother, a junior college student, \"killed himself two years ago, partly due to the pressure from my parents to do well\". She claimed to have met in IMH four other students from top schools who had attempted suicide or harmed themselves because of school stress.\"
Another article titled \"I flunked the IP': Integrated Programme dropout shares his story\" in Dec 30 2018 about the experiences of Mr Edwin Chau who could not cope with the stress of being in the IP.
Do watch out for our children's mental health closely and provide plenty of emotional support for them. More understanding, less stigma please.
To God be the Glory, The Best is Yet to be!

So,
How many students are taken in through internal transfer from ACSI O level in Year 3 for IB?
How many of them are scholars?
How many IB classes are there after Year 3 intake? -

There are no International Baccalaureate (IB) classes until Year 5. The IB is a 2-year academic diploma programme that supersedes the A-Levels.

How many IB classes are there after Year 3 intake?
In Year 1, approximately 50% of the intake is for the Integrated Programme (IP) leading to the IB. This is about 7-8 classes, about 250 students or so. As a rough idea, in 2018 there were 232 non-IP (O-Level) S4 students. The total school population is under 3000 students, with about 900+ in Y5-6 and the balance of about 1900 or so in Y1-4.
Internal transfers vary, but you might add up to two classes in a good year, bringing the total IP capacity to around 270 with smaller classes. Number of classes is not a good measure of number of students, in some years. The problem really is that there is a rough internal cap on how many students the school can afford to support at Year 5, and that number is about 450 (the programmes started with 360, and even that was a huge excess over the original 120 cap). Most recent years have seen 460-ish enrolment at Year 5. At least 120 of those are girls.
All of them are scholars, since ACS(I) intends that all its Y1-Y4 students be 'scholars, officers and gentlemen'.
After the Year 3 intake, in theory you could have up to 9 classes of IP students. That wouldn't tell you how many students there are, though. It will still be 8 classes of IP students in most years, out of 16. And they will be overcrowded, compared to what we wanted when we first designed the programme. -
