What attracts yr DH to Xiamen? S’times it looks good as places of interest as outsiders, but to stay long, might end up getting used to “their ways”, if u know what I mean.
DH commented that Xiamen is similar to Taiwan, nice place to retire in. I have not been there. Maybe one day I will go and take a look. But highly unlikely I will retire anywhere outside Singapore.starlight1968sg\" post_id=\"1900771\" time=\"1551533321\" user_id=\"14025:
Hmm... I like Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou though.
Retiring in a place means you’ll hv yr daily food there. If you cook, there’s also concern abt their food (esp meat stuff) & hygiene or what’s sold in the wet mkt. eating out may be an experience but street food may come st our health’s cost. Had a young staff who just wanna enjoy local experience, end up she had parasites diagnosed only after her 2-year sojourn in China, when she returned & had been loosing weight even with big appetites.
Whilst in China, I had watched their consumer education programs. The ‘detectives’ unearth dirty practices of unhygienic prep (even those sent to high class restaurants in Shanghai) just to earn extra. Cows are thrown on dirty floors with hose to plump up the meat so they weigh more for higher returns. Rotten 虾 washes in borox liquid & then colored golden to present as if high grade 虾米 after drying in sun, etc. It’s all born of greed to get rich quick at the expense of consumers health!
I hesitate to return to China when I can aviod it, except might visit my close ex-neigbour in Tainjin as she too worry abt her own countrymen’s uncivilzed ways by growing her own veg & rearing her own chickens & duck in her backyard. I’ve only a 2-year window, after that they’ll back to live in Spore for her children’s education.
I’ll stay & retire in Spore as I’m comfortable here too. It’s safe in every sense. Easier to travel short-short-term to China. Easy to travel out to China anytime, anywhere. Just register with MFA. We get the citizens benefits incl medical care & our home is here. I’m proud to be a Sporean. Guess like British & Americans, they hv their own medical care with costs taken care of. So, when older with more healthcare needs, we all flock back to hometown ya? I’m closer the other end, so can see the need now le. -

the man can have sex without emotions....but it's different for the woman. there is an emotion attach when they do it with another man. is it possible for women to have affairs and treat it as nothing happened and return home after work as a dutiful wife?
But sad to say, after a while, the woman tends to get emotionally attached but the man can treat as if nothing has happened. -
I will also retire in Spore though many say go JB.
My roots are here -

Within the confines of the ship, how often can hide fr these blokes? Provided yr family don’t go out of cabin or VIP Lounge to enjoy other Programmes, swim, rock climb or golf then I’ll rather spend my next holiday elsewhere.

The staff hv to literally shout at them to comply & behave. It’s ugly to even watch them when you’re not the culprit being shouted at. Guess cruise staff must be reevaluating their good pay job on cruise with tips to relieve themselves fr such stresses.
Our family’s RC Cruise in early 2000 was really so pleasant & enjoyable. So very very diff. Some of us still keep in touch after making frds coz a pleasant trip in confines of ship for a week builds good frdships. We visit each other almost monthly to cook, bake, chit-chat & for the kids to play. I had my chance to share flower arrangement skills & fondant cake decoration art to their frds & relatives and my kids fix their drones with one of the father’s help. Those were the days. -
We enjoyed the privileges and 1-1 service by the VIP lounge staffs. They know each family by their names. No need to Q up for every meals in the buffet line is the best. Enjoy every meals in the privacy of the lounge. Priorities are given for boarding and disembarkation Of course we also enjoyed the spa facilities, Ice-skating, Ice-skating show, Rock climbing, excursions to other ports etc etc…
The most memorable was the Bridge tour whereby the suite guests were being introduced to the vice captain and crews and we got to see how and where they navigate the ship.
Each family has their own way of enjoying holidays. Our utmost priority is good accommodations (usually comes with good service) eating, entertainments for the kids and shopping. -

Your RC cruise to which places ah?
During our last Royal Caribbean cruise trip, it was overflowing with Indian tourists who likely took a flight to Singapore just to board the ship. It was so suffocating and in the buffet served, there were more Indian dishes than other forms of cuisine.Estéema\" post_id=\"1900761\" time=\"1551528659\" user_id=\"66413:
Yes. Avoiding Asia cruise after latest negative experience. Again, it’s difference in culture & u’stand’g. Also, nationals of these hv to be given more time to come up to level with their behaviors towards more conscious of & consideration for other users in the same space.
Someone told me, in RC it’s either you meet the tons of tourists from China or India, you choose lor. Lol.
I m sailing to Phuket - hope they dun like to go island ... ahhhhh... I thought they just stick to star or dream cruise only ... ?! -

No matter how nice I found the countries I tour or visit, the moment the plane touches down at Changi and I walk out of the plane to face the warm air con, I always feel relieved bec this is where my home is.
Though I complain here and there, this is still where my roots are. -
Don’t think I can stay in JB Malaysia. Firstly, cannot speak and understand Malay is a barrier. Somehow you will always feel like a 2nd class citizen where good things and treatment are given to the Malays. Also, I cannot agree with their current political head... alway giving us problem and easily jealous of SG. Worst the corruptions are still there. Few weeks ago came across a famous food blogger blogging about paying $100 to their police for speeding Wah I thought now should be no more such corruptions already after the change of their head but still...
Many times before the change of their head, we always kena the police to ask for money at the highway. They always look for SG carplate and when it’s a luxury car. Lucky DH knows how to speak their language. I try not to go in to JB often. Don’t like the jam and the customs officers
