Took the morning off to make sure my older daughter finished an essay. It’s not due yet, but she has 4 pieces of written work to complete, 2 presentations and 2 quizzes in the next 2 weeks! She is really bad at planning and disciplining herself to get things done - a real procrastinator, and very indecisive. She didn’t have classes till late morning, and I’m away for the rest of the week, so I decided we needed to make the most of this morning. It’s part of her learning disability, but it’s a real pain. I’ll be heading to the office after lunch.

          life can be simple.
i was at orchard road yesterday. supposed to be ME TIME and learning to pamper myself  but at tangs household dept, I saw this Tefal non stick mini wok and thought of daughter. after that, I remembered I promised her popcorn from the cinema at Scotts. I should have bought 2 packets...because my father ate the remaining popcorn when she went to bathe. then son came back and asked me if I bought popcorn.

kids love popcorn from imax cinemas...not just kids...even those young at heart love it. :rotflmao: the taste is lovely and the sweetness is evenly spread.
popcorn from GV cinemas is not nice as there is a lot of kernels. somehow the taste just cmi.

I am! I've got her to draw up a schedule for when all the work needs to be done, so my job is really to \"police\" it as she doesn't seem to be bothered by falling behind her schedule. I also help with advice when she gets stuck, otherwise she will just stay stuck and her schedule will be ignored. I have to be the terribly nagging mum that I hate to be - popping into her room every 20 mins to ask if she is progressing. This morning, I just moved into her room to do my work so I didn't have to walk in and out so much.

The first semester, she procrastinated till she had 3 essays to write in a week, and she was falling apart with stress. We vowed never to let that happen again, and this is her 4th semester, but it seems she is really not able to plan and keep to long lead time deadlines. She is OK with the weekly work. Oh well, it's far better than I ever thought she would achieve, so we soldier on. Every semester is an achievement. I think she should give me at least 30% of her degree when she gets it.

I got a white board with days/mth for DS. He will update daily & whenever there is any assignment so I’ve full view & award. I leave it to this young man to exercise his discipline & almost letting go (hopefully by next year). He’s on his own whilst DH & I outbof sight. Works well to give him more space to manage on his own. Then we’ll discuss the gaps when back.

:hugs: somehow could feel some of the frustrations there..after gone through the 1st quarter of the year with dd. Now she will try to tell me what hw she has for the day..but still way exceed the timing given..she will then tell me what extra things she done..always knocking on the door asking her what she is doing I feel it gives her unnecessary stress too..dont want to stress her but seeing revision not moving, that is quite stressful to me.

slmkhoo, your dd has done very well given some of her shortcomings..I believe she is trying her best too..

                        Ladies

Am thinking how to reduce my rubbish generated and my usage of plastic bag to lin the kitchen bin.
I try to do massive peeling of skin for say potatoes, winter melon at one go.
