This is so true.. I agree 100%. They're also less responsible when it comes to some things.. and more on self love than caring for others.. That's what I noticed with a few.
I give you an example, true story
Saturday night i changed a fluorescent lamp....
Sunday the lamp not working, my son informed me of the matter, then just walked away...I immediately tell my mum-in-law (who is just beside me, when i repairing the lamp) that nowadays young children no longer has the responsibility sense anymore.
Children now just want convenience, they don't care about others.
Self-love is nice word to use, self-centred is more of the harsh & yet hard truth. But this is true though -
Therefore, now i hack care my son already…
I now act this way…tell him already, he don’t want to listen is his problem, not my problem.
He "bang wall" on things he encounter, let him wake up his idea…have to let him know things are not as simple as it is -
It’s a very sensitive age where they are going through a lot of things and finding themselves.
Sometimes it’s quite hard to talk to them… -
Teenagers nowadays have the YOLO (you only live once) mindset. Therefore they will just anyhow chiong whatever things they wanna try.
Not hard to talk to them, main issue is "are they able to understand what adults are trying to explain" -

I am all about trying new things. But within certain boundaries e.g. no drugs, etc. And I remind my son that the correct term is not YOLO but YODO (you only die once).

Here's the main point that Channelnewsasia wrote, about YOLO mindset
\"Our youths today crave memorable and purposeful experiences that emphasise the importance of the journey, instead of being fixated with the destination\"

There’s a true fact we parents encountered on current teenagers & young people
- They are leaning towards Western people mindset
- They don’t really listen to what parents say already
- They are much more outspoken now
- They say things very outright -

It is not that I don’t know about YOLO. I am ok with YOLO (with boundaries) but they also must know that they can only die once so they don’t do anything dangerous.

ngl,
Nowadays young people their thinking very different from our generation.
Therefore, i just let my son to do the things he interested in
I also told him this
"If you could not get your academy result well, you have to bear your own responsibilities"
