phtthp, do give your gal some relaxation on a daily basis. To avoid burnout, give at least a timeout to do something to relax the brain. Can be reading or doing cooking or doing some gardening etc.

I put a hard stop on Supp Classes when DS1 took PSLE last year. DS1 thinks that Supp Classes by mummy are even better than the school. Also some school(s) arrange for Supp Classes for the sake of doing that. I am not advocating the school supp classes are not good, it is just merely targeting to the masses for average. That is my opinion lah.

Like what Estee recommended, we only go for Chinese Supp Class as it concentrate on oral which both my DS1 and myself think is great. Also DS1 likes his Chinese teacher alot.

Our school has not supplementary class. CCA will stop this term. I think for maths, they have kind of finished the syllabus. But my child finds “speed” very tough. Don’t know how much effort it is worth to continue practising on this topic given that there are so many other things to prepare and revise, including oral etc etc…

Just write in to the school and inform the school teachers that you have support system at home. And should the child needs any help, can readily ask the teacher for assistance. I am sure the school will be supportive of this. I doubt any school is unreasonable. Just write a nice letter.

Actually, what do your Teachers go through during supp class ah? Teach syllabus stuff or do revision?

For me, my Teachers use them to teach whatever that needs to catch up, normal syllabus stuff. They certainly have not finished the p6 syllabus yet like bochap mum school. Hence for me, I don’t think I should stop supp class now.

Hence I think I can only stop supp class if they are doing revision in July? Provided I think I am a better teacher in revising. Am I missing something? 😆

Some sch did assessments for supp classes plus catching up lost syllabus due to PHs , sch events etc

Some school sup classes are more of reducing the gap and reinforce the learning. Not so much about catching up the syllabus. Coz it wouldn’t be fair if others really cannot come for the Supp Classes and hence missing out the syllabus.

In my DS1 school, the Supp classes are mainly doing more Heuristic Maths targeting on Problem Sums, Heuristic Science targeting on section B, English Comprehension and Compre Cloze, Chinese Comprehension and Oral. So very much depend on each individual school.
