My daughter will be entering P1 in 2020 and we're staying at Telok Blangah. (wondering why no one posts any queries on below schools). If I apply as below choices, which school will she most probably go to?
1) Radin Mas (1-2km) - Phase 2C
2) Zhangde (1-2km) - Phase 2Cs
3) CHIJ (Kellocks) (1-2km) - MOE assist
4) Gan Eng Seng (1-2km) - MOE assist
5) Blangah Rise (<1km)

1. Radin Mas - Phase 2C ballots for SC < 1km. Hence, a wasted choice.
2. Zhangde - Likely to ballot in Phase 2C. Therefore, no places left for Phase 2Cs.
3. CHIJ Kellocks - Depends on your luck: some years ballot in Phase 2C, some years in Phase 2Cs. If that happens, no places left for your other phase.
4. Gan Eng Seng - Ditto.

I think you would have to put Zhangde as your first choice to have a realistic chance.

So that I can withdraw and quickly apply to another school. Is that true?

It depends on which 'same day' you are talking about.

Schools that traditionally ballots < 1km will likely turn you away immediately if you are > 1km.
Schools that sometimes ballots < 1km, sometimes not, will likely accept all-comers on day 1 and 2. If they realise a ballot is all by certain on day 3, they MAY reject new applicants > 1km, or call applicants > 1km up and advise them to withdraw, or they MAY do nothing (since applicants may still withdraw last minute).
If there's only 1 space left for > 1km, very likely that they won't advise or do anything. However, if at the eleventh hour, some fellow < 1km applies for the school. The school won't be able to inform those > 1km in time even if they want to.

Moral of the story: a lot depends on whether the school has the manpower to assist you. Don't count on it.

Ok then. Here goes:
- Radin Mas phase 2C ballots at <1km. U have zero chance (unless the demand suddenly drops this year).
- Zhangde fills all its places at phase 2C. So again u will have zero chance there at phase 2CS.
- CHIJ Kellock, Gan Eng Seng, Cantonment Pri...may have some places left after phase 2C, so technically u can ask MOE to assist you with getting a seat there.
- However, since Blangah Rise is <1km ie your nearest school, MOE is far more likely to post your child there.

To make life easier for you, I suggest just applying straight to CHIJ Kellock at phase 2C. It’s pretty much a guaranteed seat. Unless your daughter has a younger brother, then u will have some headache.

Hi! if Zhangde is filled at Ph2C, then I'll apply CHIJ at Ph2Cs for 2nd chance. (Based on past 2 years, CHIJ is not fully filled after Ph2Cs)

If cannot get CHIJ after Ph2Cs, is it possible to request MOE for a place at Gan Eng Seng if there's vacancy? (Base on past 3 years, Gan Eng Seng is not fully filled after Ph2Cs). Or MOE will strictly decide for me to Blangah Rise which is nearest?

I do not know how anybody’s request will be processed or evaluated by MOE. It’s just big black hole because no parent has ever reported here in KSP forum about their experience. We are merely giving our best guess because MOE’s stance has always been to advocate the nearest school (with vacancies) for convenience.

Perhaps you’d like to come back and tell us after MOE decides...

Not true. Balloting history page is not yet updated for 2018.

CHIJ Kellock had balloting for >2km SC in Aug 2018.

YES, my hubby joined alumni and should be ok for 2A1, but we live >2km. so that means those 2A1 and within 2km all got in, and those >2KM got ballot… would you have the statistics of how many >2km balloting for how many 2A1 seats? I always thought 2A1 was almost guaranteed until knowing it still need balloting…stressed… and any advice you could give us? do we need to get a place within 1km for this even in phase 2A1?

and perhaps a question that i even hesitate to ask … how do we assess snake year boys for CHS phase 1 and 2A1? hehe
