For such cases, I guess the first thing would be to inform form teacher, then school principal followed by asking to meet the bully’s parents? change seat or change class? what else can we do yeah?

I guess after you have gone through the chain of command and still, nothing gets done, you will be allowed to dress up as the Punisher.

I guess even so maybe with the parents not the boy maybe some kids now very brave nowadays I could only think most of them in primary esp. may feel abit scared when the parents go talk to them directly. .maybe I have not provoked to that extent (yet), even the thought of telling the kids face to face, I worry I may scare them too much already.

SINGAPORE: A 44-year-old man was jailed for seven weeks on Monday (Apr 29) for pushing a 10-year-old boy, causing a fracture in his ribs.

According to the man's defence lawyer, the boy had been bullying his son for more than two years.

Tan Chin Tai pleaded guilty to one count of voluntarily causing hurt to the boy, who was then in Primary 4, at a school that cannot be identified in order to protect the victim's identity.

The court heard that Tan had approached the boy after the boy's lesson on Jul 7, 2017.

They were heading towards the school gate when Tan grabbed the handle of the boy's bag, moving him backwards. Tan then grabbed the boy's chest and pushed him to a nearby rubbish shed, pushing him onto the wall and scolding him.

He said: \"Just because you are bigger in size, you can bully others.\" He also added that \"since you can bully my son, I can bully you\"


The boy felt pain in his chest and went to hospital, where an X-ray revealed that he sustained a small fracture in one of his ribs.

VICTIM BULLIED TAN'S SON DAILY: DEFENCE

Tan's defence lawyer, Cory Wong from Invictus Law, asked the court for a fine or not more than four weeks' jail for his client, who was an adjunct teacher registered under the Ministry of Education's (MOE) database.

He said the victim had been bullying Tan's son daily in front of other students, allegedly abusing him with vulgarities, including Hokkien words and cursing at his mother.

Mr Wong added that the victim would push and taunt Tan's son whenever he saw him in school.

Mr Wong said his client had gone to a teacher to report the bullying after hearing about it from his son, \"but alas nothing concrete materialised from the reports\".

\"Tan was instead told that the victim had anger management issues and felt that his concerns were being brushed aside,\" said Mr Wong.

I sympathize with him, no parent would want their child to be bullied in school.
What he did, I can understand but it does not make it right.

I can ‘feel’ the pain too as a parent of ‘victim’…the more I feel I need to know how to react should that happen. We still see some unhappiness between students…but not to extent of causing alarm…when kids grown up and out to work, they will get it as well…treat it as knowing/learning in advance for ‘milder’ cases… you see some positives as in it helps building up some resiliences as well as the negative as in losing temper quickly etc… but for more serious cases, I think parents got to be involved else I feel it can get negatively on kids wellbeing.

yep , i can understand the pain of parents to know their kid is being bullied all the time....the fear n lousy feeling of the child. But this dad should control his anger, he could have stormed into Gen offc, P office to ask /demand for actions taken , if not - very easy - CALL MOE hotline, to speak to P's boss , or zonal director etc

actually, in the first place, the dad was at upper hand to make noise n complain all the way to MOE to make sch do something or transfer the bully kid somewhere / counselling session etc... But now... he LOST totally just bcos of personal anger & hurt the child (though bully but its someone else precious child too)
he himself turned into a big bully .sigh! :nailbite:

Morale of the story, next time just go direct to MOE. Don’t bother going through the form teacher. So the P wasn’t informed? Why the form teacher did nothing for more than 2 years?

Poor thing... Likely the dad who was jailed wasn’t too highly educated cos he would not feel at wits’ end to resort to push his kid’s bully and would probably sue teacher/classmate/MOE or use social media to highlight the issues.

The dad was an adjunct teacher, he should have known the venues open to him.
But he decided to take the bull by the horns, prob did not realise the bully had weak ribs

He's an adjunct teacher... I doubt \"wasn't too highly educated\" would be applicable to him. He probably lost it as would a lot of parents when it comes to things concerning their children.
