Thank you! boy not due for registration yet contemplating for volunteer work at Nanyang (I know itโ€™s not easy to get in either) I wouldnt want to relive the feeling of the disappointment when I failed in the Nanyang 2C ballot in 2008 ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh, you are not for registration this year?! Then zac's mum advice is valid - CHS is NOT a secured seat. That said, your odds of getting a place in CHS under Phase 2A1 would still be higher than:
          1. Getting a PV position in NYPS (Phase 2B for NYPS is also NOT secured)
          2. Getting through the ballot in Phase 2C for NYPS

Given that NYPS offers no additional benefits (i.e. affiliation) to your boy, I don't see it's attraction besides being a 5 min walk away.

just some real numbers from last year.

              20th July 2018 - end of day
35 applied, all within 1 KM

from that I am aware, there were 20 sets of PV and I assume all applied.

I assume that there would have been 200 applicants for that 20 PV places, to have an opportunity for a ballot in Phase 2B :siao:

                  200+- apply
                  select 40+- for interview
                  choose 20

Wow but technically these 200 should by right be SC and within 1km right? In order to play the cards right.

Several HDB blocks around that area, so yeah quite feasible to have >20 SCs living there.

There are only a few blocks of HDB around NYPS. However, plenty of high rise / high density private housing with 1km so it's possible to have a lot of SC renting / owning a property over there.
