Hey guys, our eldest son born in '14 and is due to enrol in P1 in the year '21. We’re staying literally opposite Northland in Yishun. Recently they conducted the PV ballot exercise and we failed to get it.


We’re quite concerned now as we will be in phase 2C, which means balloting in a bigger pool.
What are our alternative options? Chongfu, Jiemin and North View is within 2 km.

Or should we start to look for schools outside of Yishun that are easier to get in?

Frankly, if you like Northland, go for the ballot in Phase 2C. Your backup for Phase 2CS could be North View, Ahmad Ibrahim or Yishun.

Alternatively, if you are concern about balloting, you should just opt for Jiemin in Phase 2C. Almost a guarantee spot.

Chongfu is definitely out for you. Don't think there's a need to look out of Yishun as there are plenty of options within to look at.

Can someone advise which primary Schools offer Higher Chinese from Primary 1 besides those SAP schools. Thanks in advance.

I am stressing over school now . So my side within 1km there’s kheng Cheng , chij tpy (first choice but hard to get in ) and Marymount convent .

I know that if I want to be safe at phase 2C either Marymount or Kheng Cheng but I think Marymount has better chance since it’s a single sex school .

Was thinking to register PV for peichun (needs interview and because it’s v near my pils ) and I am also looking at st Margaret’s too .

Is Marymount and Kheng Cheng good ?

As a starting point, take a look at the schools’ websites, and especially their newsletters/updates to parents. They give some insight into what the school places more emphasis on. From the photos, you can also see what activities the school organizes, as well as the student population makeup.

Easy decision.

Option A:
If you prefer single gender school, Phase 2C - CHIJ TPY.
If ballot is unsuccessful, Phase 2Cs - MCS.

Option B:
If you prefer mixed gender school, Phase 2C - KCS.

Given that you have only 2 girls, first option would be smarter choice.

Does it mean within 2CS I get more priority since I stay within 1km . Looking at the stats at 2CS there might be a chance that I would have to ballot but not too sure is it within 1km ballot or those that’s above 1km.

With the exception of last year IIRC, MCS had only balloted for PR > 2km in Phase 2CS. I think SC < 1km is super duper safe in Phase 2CS for now.
